    Hermitage Castle ( border fortress) in a ruined castle 5 mile north of Newcastle town. Liddesdale is a wild and lovely place, once known as the bloodiest valley’s in Britain. Today was a rather bleak day- a wet and windy.
    Although now abandoned it was important to the defences of Scotland between the 1300s until King James VI of a Scotland and 1st of England took the throne.
    It has been visited by some very famous characters in history and swapped hands between the Scottish and English nobles due to its location.
    We popped into a rather nice cafe in Newcastleton Copshaw Kitchen. Food was fresh- quiche and mushroom soup delicious. Big, big portions
