• Day 396 - New York, NY

June 4, 1975 in the United States

    May 27th - 31st
Today we saw the beautiful skyline of New York City again after two years. I will never forget this particular moment.

The World Trade Center twin towers had been completed during our absence and looked stunning. A sign of strength! What a great feeling to be back in New York! Tears were in our eyes.

We have completed a remarkable journey. Distance-wise, about 1.5 times around the world. We managed it in 13 months for $5,500. We were proud to have completed this ambitious undertaking and, naturally, a little disappointed that New Zealand wasn't in the cards.

After settling in, we visited our previous employers to say hello. We only intended it to be a short visit; however, both wanted to hire us back immediately at offers we couldn't refuse. This was totally unexpected, and we gladly accepted.

We were very fortunate - it almost felt like we never left.
