Medal of Honor Museum

I visited the Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas, with our Geezer Hiking Group. It was a fascinating and inspiring experience, and we were grateful for the opportunity to visit this exceptional museum.

During our visit, our leader, Aubra, who is courageously battling pancreatic cancer, met a family whose members have devoted a combined 50 years to military service. Encounters like this are a powerful reminder that the freedoms we enjoy every day have been safeguarded by generations of Americans who answered the call to serve. We are truly fortunate to have men and women willing to sacrifice for our country in the cause of freedom and peace.

The museum’s modern architecture is remarkable. The main structure is supported by five massive columns, symbolizing the five branches of the United States Armed Forces. It is a striking tribute before you even step inside.

The exhibits are thoughtfully designed and beautifully presented. They left me with a profound appreciation for the more than 40 million Americans who have served in our Armed Forces and for the more than 5,000 recipients of the Medal of Honor. Their extraordinary courage, selfless service, and unwavering devotion to duty represent the very best of our nation and remind us that freedom has never been free.
