Port Hedland

Short stay in Port Hedland so we did a trip to the local Museum and were met by a couple of enthusiastic locals (one of which was 97yr of Arnold, still president of the museum committee and several other volunteer roles in the community!).

We learnt about the major exports of wool, salt, iron ore, gold and manganese over the years, and the sinking of the Katoomba in 1912 that has never been found....

We stopped off to see the ships in Port loading up, and then lunch at the Silver Star Cafe which the kids thought was pretty novel being on a train!Read more
