The Organic Agro Farm was so cool. They demonstrated coconut husking and how they utilize every part of the tree right down to crushing the pulp for coconut oil. Even the palm fronds are weaved for baskets, plates, etc. The old man also showed us how they harvest the cinnamon. We learned that only Ceylon Cinnamon has the good medicinal properties. Cassia Cinnamon does not. The way to tell if it's Ceylon is if the rolled edges have more than one layer, then it's Ceylon. Ceylon cinnamon has several rolls of bark, vs Cassia which only has bark on the outside. At this point, we heard monkeys yelling and finally saw them in the distance. Then we walked throughout the Grove and saw Sour Sap, Jack Fruit, mangoes, guava, spinach root, allspice leaves, lemongrass, hummingbird flower, several types of bananas, sugar cane, rice, tea leaves, and Beatle nuts, Jack Fruit, spinach root, sour sap, many varieties of bananas, coconuts, king coconuts, rice, pineapples, and more. They also demonstrated the rubber making process. After all this, we had a wonderful lunch of their typical foods and fruits.Leer más
