Mayen, Germany

Today a relatively short ride in the rain to Mayen from Koblenz which is another lovely little German town. Staying at the youth hostel here. I'm here because I want to ride the Nurburgring and this is the nearest place I can stay. Unfortunately I can only stay here two nights as the place is booked up after that so will have to move again if I can't do the Nurburgring before Tuesday.

Attempted to go to ride the Nurburgring (only open to the public from 5pm to 7.30pm) which is the reason for my coming to this part of Germany. Unfortunately it was actually snowing there although at times during the day the weather was gorgeous. I think that because it is so hilly here there are many microclimates. The ride here was lovely though. In a sense missing out on the Nurburgring is not a problem because some of the rides through the area are both beautiful and challenging.Read more
