    Turks & Caicos

    February 11 in Turks and Caicos Islands ⋅ 🌬 25 °C

Our sailing trip to Turks and Caicos lasted approximately 38 hours. The first surprise awaited us shortly after setting sail. In the bay of Samana, we were surrounded by humpback whales! Water spouts and tail fins everywhere. With binoculars in hand, we observed these fascinating giants until they disappeared from view.

The wind was favorable, consistently blowing between 10 and 23 knots. However, the waves were a bit uncomfortable.
While reefing, the mainsail tore... Tomas attempted a makeshift repair... luckily, it held, and the damage didn't worsen. Who knew duct tape could work wonders! 😎
We arrived at night and dropped anchor in sandy ground. The next morning's surprise: picturesque turquoise waters and white sandy beaches as far as the eye could see.

On the same day, we sailed over to Cockburn Harbor. Along the way, we caught a barracuda. We grilled it for dinner, adding a taste of adventure to our culinary experience at sea!
