Corpus Christi decorations in Caminha

Yesterday we walked from Viana do Castelo to Caminha and came upon the beginning of street decorating in preparation for the Corpus Christi processions today. What an amazing event! Various city/ religious groups decorate different streets using everything from coarse salt in different colours, ground coffee, coloured wood chips, cedar branches, and a variety of flowers or petals. These people work through the night and by morning all is complete. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay there today to watch the processions and church events.もっと詳しく
