• Trekking Up Mt. Emei

    September 19, 2024 in China ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

📍 Mount Emei 🏔️—what a day! We just explored one of China’s Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains, and it was incredible. With an elevation of 3,099 meters 🌄, this UNESCO World Heritage site has everything from stunning temples to diverse wildlife (watch out for the monkeys! 🐒).

Our adventure started with a 1.2km walk to Fuhu Temple, also known as Crouching Tiger Temple 🐯, which was built during the Tang Dynasty. Fun fact: it took *20 years* to complete! We marveled at the Golden Statue of Maitreya and the Huayan Pagoda, all while soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. This temple is also the largest nunnery on the mountain 🛕—a true hidden gem.

Next, we walked another 1.5km to Baoguo Temple, the largest and most important temple on Mount Emei 🛕. Dating back to the Wanli Period (1573–1619), it’s home to Mahavira Hall, the Huaya Bronze Pagoda, and the incredible Lotus Bronze Bell. Oh, and don’t miss the Porcelain Buddha Statue—stunning! 🌸✨

The round-trip trek was about 3km, but the scenery and rich history made every step worth it! After the temple visits, we made our way back to the Baoguosi Carpark for a well-deserved break 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️.

With over 30 temples and a rich Buddhist culture, Mount Emei is a spiritual and natural wonder. Whether you’re here for the history, the wildlife, or the views, it’s a must-visit! 🌿🙏 #MountEmei #BuddhistHeritage #UNESCOWorldHeritage #TempleTrek #ChinaTravel
