  • Stone and Silence Since 1050

    May 14 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Tucked in the heart of Passau, the Church of St. Paul bears quiet witness to centuries of faith and stone.
First documented in 1050, its current Baroque structure dates from 1663 to 1678 — nearly a decade to shape what still stands today.
I paused here longer than expected. There’s something grounding about walls that have weathered wars, prayers, silence, and song.

  • Inside Baroque Brilliance St. Michael’s

    May 14 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

    Inside Baroque Brilliance
    St. Michael’s Church, Passau, Germany

⛪️ Nestled in the old town of Passau, just steps from the Danube, lies a hidden Baroque masterpiece: St. Michael’s Jesuit Church.

✨ Built in the early 17th century, this church once belonged to a Jesuit college. Today, it’s part of Passau’s spiritual and architectural heartbeat.

👼 Angels dance along the stucco ceilings
⛏️ Every column, curve, and carving was hand-sculpted over 300 years ago
⚜️ That golden pulpit? It practically levitates

    Fun facts:
    — The pulpit’s canopy is topped with St. Michael the Archangel, spear in hand
    — The altar glows in gold leaf, with a dramatic ceiling painting above
    — Confessionals are tucked into hand-carved wooden alcoves with green curtains

📍Located near the Veste Niederhaus footpath and a short walk from St. Stephen’s Cathedral — so don’t miss this gem when you’re exploring the “City of Three Rivers.”

Cruising the Blue Danube with Donauschifffahrt Wurm & Noé – 2.5 hours of river magic!
    🚢✨💙

This legendary shipping company has been sailing the Danube since 1974 — now with 12 ships, 3 ports (Passau, Regensburg & Linz) and a mission to blend tradition with innovation.

    Fun facts:
    • The Danube is Europe’s 2nd-longest river — over 2,800 km long! 🌍
    • It flows west to east, from the Black Forest to the Black Sea 🌲➡️🌊
    • Our route follows old Roman trade paths and passes castles, vineyards, monasteries, and more 🏰🍇⛪️

    What we’ll see today:
Rolling green hills 🌿, baroque church towers ⛪️, sleepy river villages 🏡, and maybe even a few swans 🦢. Watch for ruined fortresses and UNESCO treasures as we glide along!

Grab a seat on the sundeck 🌞, sip something refreshing 🍹, and let the Danube do the storytelling.

  • Things Just Got Haunted.

    May 14 in Austria ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Update from the Danube… things just got haunted.
    🏰🌫️👻

As we glided past the dramatic cliffside of Burg Krämpelstein, the German audio tour dropped a chilling surprise:
“Many died here… and some say you can still hear their voices.”

    Wait—what?!
From toll keepers to travelers, this lonely medieval outpost has seen its share of tragedy.
Now perched in silence above the Danube, it’s said to whisper back on stormy nights…
    Wind?
    Or something else?

Safe to say I stayed firmly on the boat.
(But I might have looked over my shoulder once or twice…)

Would you visit this haunted hideout?
