Deception Island and Half Moon Island

We arrived at Deception Island this morning,a flooded volcanic caldera and sailed through Neptune’s Bellows , a narrow breach in the caldera wall. The island was home to a whaling station during the early part of the 20th century. A jolly desolate spot!! We then headed on to Half Moon Island for our last excursion before heading home. The island is home to a lot of very smelly Chinstrap penguins. Now back on the ship and ready to set out across the Drake Passage - hopefully a bit less lively than last time!!Read more
