    Loch Ness

    July 15, 2015 in Scotland ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Today we went for a cruise along the Loch Ness in search of the Loch Ness Monster 'Nessie'. We did not get to see Nessie but we did get to see the beautiful scenery along the way.

Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater lochin the Scottish Highlands extending for approximately 37 km southwest of Inverness. Its surface is 16 m above sea level.

Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish lochby surface area at 56 km2 after Loch Lomond, but due to its great depth, it is the largest by volume. Its deepest point is 230 m, making it the second deepest loch in Scotland after Loch Morar. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined and is the largest body of water on the Great Glen Fault, which runs from Inverness in the north to Fort William in the south.
