    Penong

    November 1, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 16 °C

So after staying another night (Monday) in Ceduna due to it being just too wet and windy to travel we had a fairly quiet day.
A bit of a drive around Ceduna and out to Thevenard to check out the lighthouse memorial at Pinky Point. Such a windy night wasn't sure if we would even get away again this morning. But the winds dropped enough for us to head to Penong. Lovely clean, flat Caravan Park back off the highway where we booked in for a night.
Took a walk around the Windmill museum where the largest windmill in Australia is. Interesting to read about all the different windmills on display.
Was hoping to drive to lake MacDonnell to see the pink/blue lake but apparently due to the weather over the last week both sides are brown at the moment, so will see if it's settled on our way back.
Walked to the Penong hotel to watch the Melbourne cup. Yahoo, I picked the winner😃, but 😕I didn't actually put any money on it! Oh well, it was still fun to relax and watch the cup run.
Went back to the pub for dinner. Meals were huge, neither of us could finish them.
