    Mykonos

    August 23, 2017 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We came from Athens to Mykonos by ferry on the 22nd August. It took roughly 5.5 hours from the port of Pireus to get here.

On the way we met 2 guys from Colombia. They were telling us cool places to go if we head to South America and also invited us to join them and a crew of 11 others on a 'boys trip' at their airbnb place on the island. We politely declined haha.

We are here for 3 nights in total, staying at a little place called Hotel Teo. Owned by a guy that lives in Surfers Paradise for 6 months of the year and comes over here to Mykonos for the remaining 6 months. He's a bit grumpy for someone who lives in paradise 12 months of the year.

    Mykonos in a nut shell:

Accomodation: Between 2 people its cost us 252 Euro for 3 nights, no breaky included. Over double the price of Athens. It's super cute with light and dark blue shutters on the windows (my favourite) and the building itself is white render, like all the other buildings on the island. We are located on the Southern end of the island, close to the main beaches and some of the nightlife. Although we are here for gay week, which has been entertaining.
The city centre is beautiful but very commercialised.

Food: Compared to Athens the food has almost doubled in price. It's beautiful food for the most part. We have been overloading on bread and souvlaki (a traditional Greek dish). We have also tried almost every Greek salad on the island... we are sharing the meals and it's costing roughly 12- 15 euros each per meal. Athens was much cheaper in comparison where you could buy souvlaki for 2 euro and it was delicious.

People: Soo many tourists here. Alot of Italians, we have only met 4 aussies in total. We met 1 Aussie called Eddie when we were watching the sunset and he offered to take us out on the town as he knew where to go. Although i had to helicopter him half way through the night because he fell in love with Camille and she wasn't interested. We have found people to be either super friendly or the complete opposite and a little rude.

    Budget:
We are spending about 75 euro each a day here. Not including a sneaky shop. This is well over our budget, but we are splurging on the Greek Islands.

    Other things worth mentioning:
Camille is like an exotic Avatar here. Like no ones seen a blonde woman with fair skin and green eyes. Particularly attracting the old hairy greek men. Haha i'm finding it hilarious to watch!!
