• Julia Creek and Mary Kathleen

    A night stop at Julia creek led us to watching the little Dunnart being fed and then off to our next stop at the abandoned mining town of Mary Kathleen. We searched for more gems and also found some animal bones. We were lucky enough to find some peacock stone as well. We got some friendly mooing visitors too.

    We are really loving finding lots of cool treasures and are now looking at all rocks with a new lens- Lauren

    It was a bit eerie to see such a large community and town completely deserted however it made a great camping spot.

    I loved finding the bones and I also loved finding the peacock stones. It was fun because we were at the edge of a quarry. We tried to figure out what animal the bones were from. Mum thought it might be a wallaby. I think it was lots of animals and they drank the water and they got sick and other animals ate it. - Adelaide
