    28. juni 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

A night stop at Julia creek led us to watching the little Dunnart being fed and then off to our next stop at the abandoned mining town of Mary Kathleen. We searched for more gems and also found some animal bones. We were lucky enough to find some peacock stone as well. We got some friendly mooing visitors too.

We are really loving finding lots of cool treasures and are now looking at all rocks with a new lens- Lauren

It was a bit eerie to see such a large community and town completely deserted however it made a great camping spot.

I loved finding the bones and I also loved finding the peacock stones. It was fun because we were at the edge of a quarry. We tried to figure out what animal the bones were from. Mum thought it might be a wallaby. I think it was lots of animals and they drank the water and they got sick and other animals ate it. - Adelaide

I loved finding bones. It was a kangaroo bones and T-Rex bones. The cow licked my hand. Henry

  • Mittiebah Station

    1. juli 2025, Australien ⋅ 🌬 16 °C

Luke contacted Ethan and worked out we were not too far from him. So we decided to go check out Mittiebah Station where he is the head stockman. It was great to see him all grown up and meet Josie and all of their lovely animals. The kids adored Honey, Winnie and Willie the sausage dogs.

Henry certainly fits the part of a cowboy well. We felt very lucky to get to see Ethan’s world here and felt very welcomed by all.

It was good to see Ethan chase his dreams, enjoying the life he set out to achieve. It was funny seeing him in such a management role but still the larakin he always was. It was funny to find out that he went to Narara Valley HS and how small the world is.

I loved Winnie she was the best. And I loved Willie. - Henry

I loved seeing the dog called honey and patting the cows and the horses. It was cool I loved it. - Adelaide

  • The first and last pub in the NT

    3. juli 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

We loved our stop over at Barkly Homestead. We had a great feed in the pub with live music. The bats in the morning were so cool to see, they were in every tree and flying all over the place.

I have never seen so many bats in one place. It was very cool. - Lauren

This place was a bit batty. -Luke

I loved the bats because they were flying everywhere and we wouldn’t want to stay there too long because it was so freezing that my water bottle was still cold in the morning and there was a pool but it was too freezing. There were was a pub and it had ice creams, fruit and stuff that artist made but they were expensive.- Adelaide

    4. juli 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

What a fabulous experience! We loved going Zircon and Garnet fossicking. It was great to learn a little bit about the stones and how to find them. The kids even found a few and once they were over it they played cubby’s in the car. We bought two buckets home to sort through. We found heaps of stones and got 29 cutters.

Luke and I really enjoyed fossicking. It was great that we found our roles quickly discovering Luke is great at digging and I have a talent for finding the right gems. - Lauren

Gem fossicking was back breaking work but the reward in finding the gems was absolutely worth it. Standard Lauren of course has a natural gift in finding quality expensive stones leaving me to work even harder. - Luke

I loved the cubby house. We played with the rocks. The cubby house was cool. - Henry

What a remarkable place. It was so lovely and the temperature was so cool compared to further out. It truly felt like a peaceful spot.

I loved the gap because it looked like it was spreading out and one rock was in the middle and the gaps were in each side. I liked it babies it looked liked a butterfly to me. I thought the water was yucky. It was fun- Adelaide

Such a cute little spot to stay for the night. They did a good feed at the pub and the kids loved the park and the animals.

I love feeding the emus because they were cool and there were lots. They were very crazy and they took our bag of food, it was funny. They were crazy in the morning and we fed them at night and they all came up to us this morning too. I loved seeing the camel because it was so cute. -Adelaide

I liked the emus because they run fast and I liked the big camel it sits like Adelaide’s toy. I think there was a big emu but there was seven emus. - Henry
