Sydney International departure

Now it begins.
Years of planning and saving and I still don’t have a clue or enough money but this is happening.
Auckland International

First fuelling stop. Off the plane, security check and back on the plane.
Finally arrived in Cusco

3 flights and 30 hrs later I’m here and completely surprised by what I see.
Beware the altitude monster!!!

We’ve been sick for days now. We brought medication but one of us is allergic so relying on coca leaf tea to function.
Made it to the Sacred Valley!

What an amazing drive here from Cuzco.
Ollantaytambo is beautiful.

Just being here is beautiful, exploring the streets and alleys behind the Main Street and square. The square although lightly littered with tourist seeking hawkers is still a really nice spot.
Machu picchu

Another of my life’s major accomplishments and the first for the trip is done. Machu Picchu has been experienced and I think it will take years to fully sink in. Amazing on a whole new level.
Back to Cusco

Time to leave. It’s been rough with fatigue, altitude sickness and jet lag. I really feel like I should given Cusco more time.
Lima!!!

Just overnight between flights but from the limited walk to dinner it’s nothing like I expected.
Mexico city here we are.

Wow! The drive from the airport was nuts. This place feels alive.
Art in the park.

Checking out the Museo de Arte moderne in the Bosque de Chapultepec of Mexico City.
On to the next one.

See you CDMX. I think I love you.
Hello Playa Del Carmen

2 hr flight to Cancun Terminal 4, Americans getting drunk at the airport, ADO bus to Playa.
More Americans getting drunk on Av5.
This should be interesting.
Exploring Playa

Just exploring the town and found our go to taco cart. Also had my first Walmart experience and generally getting to know my way around.
Xel ha

This water theme park is amazing!
Sunset on Playa

End of another day not really doing much.
Still chilling.

Really enjoying not doing anything much. Watched a storm role in.
Ik kil & Chitzen Itza

Chitzen Itza is an amazing site which is ruined by merchants selling souvenirs inside the archeological site. It’s still a must see but brace yourself for the noise.
See you Playa

I’ve grown very fond of Playa Del Carmen, I’m sure I’ll be back.
This is Cancun

Cancun is so different to Playa Del Carmen. More developed, more commercial and more of a party atmosphere.
Its touristy but still ok somehow

Seeing those blues and those buildings together is weird for me. Not sure how I feel about Cancun but given the chance I probably would come back.
Havana!

This is something I thought I would never achieve and here I am.
Walking the Malecon

This is another iconic stretch of coastline that needs to be experienced. Every corner is flowing with life and this is no different.
Exploring the old and the less old city

Havana is unlike anything I could imagined but I’m in two minds. I’m enchanted by the decay but I don’t want to focus my attention (or my lense) too much on it as I’m mindful that these peopleLæs mere
Hola Vinales

Bumpy collectivo ride for 2hrs+ and made it. This place is unlike anything I expected, especially after Havana.
