  • A Bite with a View

    30 de abril de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

As we stayed until after the sun set we decided to have a drink and food at the Opera House. As darkness fell the city and the bridge lit up.

We sat and drank wine and then cocktails as we took in the view. If it wasn't for the jet lag we would have stayed there all night.Leia mais

  • Ferry Hoping

    1 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

We ferried from Circular Quay, under the bridge, and then into Darling Harbour.

We got to see Opera House, looking through the bridge, after leaving Lunar Park. Then the gardens on the shore of the harbour as we sailed into Darling Harbour.Leia mais

  • Darling Harbour

    1 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Walking around Darling harbour, enjoying the sunshine, imagining what it would be like to live there and having an office in one of the buildings over-looking the harbour.

Once around the other side of the harbour we stopped off at the Hard Rock Cafe for cocktails, food and the sun, sitting on the balcony as we looked out over the harbour.Leia mais

  • A Birds Eye View of Sydney

    3 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

At the top of the Sydney Tower we got to see the best views of Sydney from above. Walking from one side, looking out to the sea, Hyde Park (and across to see our hotel), around towards Darling Harbour, with the ANZ bridge.

Eventually, looking out over the harbour, with the bridge, and then back out to sea, with the entrance to the harbour with the Pacific Ocean beyond.

  • Echo point

    4 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

Driving out of Sydney, crossing the Bridge, up into the Blue Mountains. Reaching the mountains, catching views through the trees of what was to come.

At Echo Point, when we looked out, all we could say was WOW! With the Three Sisters to the left, the view took away our breath. The pictures and our memories could never do justice to those views.Leia mais

  • Scenic World

    4 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

At Scenic World we took the rail car down to the valley floor, walking through the rain forest, listening to the birds calling across the tress.

Took the glass bottomed car across the valley to take in more amazing views.

We went for lunch in the town of Leura, taking a walk down the main street under the autumn tress.

  • Bondi Beach

    5 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Taking the bus up to Bondi Beach, sat on the top deck, and the heavens opened again. Another Australian Beach and another rainy day.

But that did not stop you stepping into the Pacific Ocean and feeling the warn water running over your feet.

Eventually, the sun came out as we walked along the beach and got an ice-cream

  • Australia Zoo

    6 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Crikey! After arriving at Brisbane airport, we picked up the car and went for our drive in Australia, and crikey! We only ended up at Steve Irwin's Australian Zoo. Not only got to see crocs being fed, we also wrestled a real (honest) giant croc too.

This time we got to hold the koala bear and made friends with more kangaroos.

  • Surfers Paradise

    7 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

After spending the night in Brisbane we drove down the Gold Coast to Surfers Paradise. The hotel room was our first "Oh Wow!" view. The balcony, facing the sea, gave a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.

Spent the day soaking up the sun (until the shadow of the sky scraper across the road got in the way), and spend the evenings in Giley's Bar.

Before leaving there was the drive up to Southport to see the Versace Hotel.

  • O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat

    9 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

The drive from Surfers Paradise up to the O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat took us through beautiful wine country and eventually taking us up the mountains, on the narrowest, winding road, into the rain forest.

Once again, the room view provided the most amazing Wow! moment, looking out over the valley with the rain forest all around.

Sitting in the garden we were joined by wild parrots who came to say hello. That evening was spent sat out on the balcony with a bottle of wine, watching the sun set over the mountains.

  • Hamilton Island

    11 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

Mid-way through the trip we arrived at the paradise that is Hamilton Island, flying above the hundreds of Islands that make up the Whitsundays. The hotel had the most amazing view of the whole holiday, looking out over the the turquoise water, across Cats Eye Beach, to Dent Island.

Walking to the other side of the island provided more spectacular views of the mariner, which we enjoyed as we sat out to eat and enjoy more cocktails.

  • Hamilton Island Road Trip

    13 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

After driving around Brisbane and out to the rain forest earlier in the holiday, we decided to take another road-trip, this time around Hamilton Island in a golf buggy.

Driving up to One Tree Hill to take in the vista views, stopped off at the little lake at Point Henning, then over to the airport.

Travelling at a top speed of 20 Kmh every road on the island was driven within half an hour.

We were supposed to leave the island that night, but a storm had arrived and all flights out were cancelled. Oh well, we just had to spend another night in paradise!

  • Port Douglas

    15 de maio de 2019, Austrália ⋅ 🌧 25 °C

Our final base for the trip was Port Douglas, in far north Queensland. This leg of the trip was seen as just an add-on with neither of us expecting too much. But once again, Australia delivered.

Port Douglas was a lovely base from which to travel and we found our final "local" pub of the trip, sitting out back in our own private little rain forest.Leia mais
