Traveler We must do Scotland in our van, the scenery up there is so beautiful, but maybe in the summer months 😀👍🏼😂

M74 to Selkirk

Driving along the M74 from Glasgow down towards the Scottish Borders. It's taken me 2 attempts at a 60 sec video, I hadn't noticed we'd left the M8.
We're off to a spot where we go a lot. We used to bring a tent down. It's very rustic. Basically a mole ridden field and it has no facilities so to speak, but it's a place we love.

Fiona and DavidWell, we thought we'd give it a go! The sun's going down now so I'll go out and take a few photos. I'm not convinced that Scotland is better than Spain, but it's certainly different. Its blowing a gale lol. 12° feels like 3° haha

TravelerYou have lived in Spain a lot more and know the good spots. Unfortunately both times we got into Spain the weather was really bad so we flew through both times without stopping much.

Here we are at the Inn. The sun is going down, we've got a huge fire going and..... the wind is howling Haha.

Into The Woods. March Wood

We decided to take an unprecedented walk in the woods. Not know for our physical activity, our natural habitat is usually near the camp fire.
We walked approx 4kms. I want to say that if we didnt have a puppy with us, we'd have walked further, but I'd be lying 🤣
It's been raining this afternoon so we had some down time in the van while Lilly slept. I made a nice fire for it to rain shortly afterwards, but I guess that's what umbrellas are for. Lilly and I sat by the fire, in the drizzle eating crisps and drinking wine. Is it any wonder shes now out for the count! 🤔Read more
TravelerLooks like a lovely spot to camp, very lush and green there. Is it free to camp overnight in these places?

Fiona and DavidThe landowner charges £10 a night which we're quite happy with. It's basically his garden. It's enough to keep the riff raff out. You can buy logs for £1 a bag but theres plenty of wood on the land to get a fire going and he doesn't mind where you make one. And theres the little rustic toilet block with hot water. No showers yet, but hes hoping to install them this year.

Suddenly the sun comes up...

It's been a great day! In true Scottish fashion, I was straight out the door, shorts and tshirt at the first sunlight at 9am. At 5° that's a tad cold, even for us Scots, but it's the principle Haha.

It's been lovely all day, although there was a moment of tension when we couldnt find Lilly. There she was, swimming in the loch for the first time. One campfire smoke free dog!

Its 5.28pm now. Tomorrow we have to head home because I'm working on Friday, but before we go, here's a little bit more about where we're staying.Read more
