We've probably spent more nights at this viewpoint than anywhere. At just an hour from home, when we wake up, it feels like we already have a head start on our journey. No two days are the same out here and I will always take photos when we come.

Getting ready to move on, but unsure to where. We are never too concerned on these short trips, because everywhere is great!

We settled in for the night near Eilean Donan castle in Kyle. We've tried to park in this spot before, but theres always been someone there. It really is lovely but only for an overnight. Theres no footpath so you cant walk anywhere along the busy A87.
As usual, I took far too many photos, but got some great ones. We managed to stay awake for the bells and locals had a bit of a firework display at the castle. Perfect start to 2020!

  • Skye - The best way to spend NYD

This morning, after Lilly surprised us with a long lie, we crossed the Skye bridge into Kyleakin and parked up so that Lilly could have a good walk. Shes not been happy this trip and has been quite noisy due to lack of exercise. She had a good swim in the sea and then I walked her round the coast to Maol Castle. Ruins dating back to the 1400's.

We then moved on to where we are now, a little place on the park4night app. It's got a bit of a view of Portree and surrounding hills, with just sheep and cows for company. Blowing a Gale, but not inside 🤗

  • Time to go home

    January 2, 2020 in Scotland ⋅ 🌧 5 °C

Torrential rain and howling wind last night and this morning. We were all cosy inside, feeling quite smug until we had to leave and found half a foot of water outside the door 🤦🏻‍♀️
We'd have stayed a bit longer in Skye but were worried the bridge might close due to the winds.
We've stopped in Glengarry for brunch. It was hard to find a lay by that wasnt flooded but finally we managed!

So sad, but also grateful to have arrived home, after two near misses. One particularly bad with an Aygo overtaking us head on into the path of ongoing traffic. Absolutely terrifying. If we hadn't have slammed on the brakes, none if us would be here. Ironically, we sat behind them for 35 miles after that!

A great wee trip nonetheless and back to the diet tomorrow 🤦🏻‍♀️Can't wait for the next one!
