Almannagjá Fissure

Another beautiful day in Iceland. We really have been lucky with the weather. I feel like I can say that now that we are on our last touring day in the campervan.

This area has both geological and historical significance in Iceland. It has been the site of government and judiciary for Iceland since 1000 AD and its stories are significant but also gruesome. North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet along this fissure and are moving apart at a rate of 7mm / year.Leia mais
