Corella Dam to Mt Isa

Sadly, we left the Clem Walton campground this morning. We now need to begin driving a little further between stops for a few days to get ourselves into the Northern Territory.
Our first stop today was to visit Fountain Springs, aka Redemption Rock in Australian Survivor 2021. This is also the location of the Crocodile Dundee scene in which Sue Charlton is nearly grabbed by a crocodile. Along the way, we also detoured along the Ballara Mining Heritage Trail to the Hightville Tunnel. There was supposed to be a bat colony in the tunnel, but we couldn't find any evidence of them.
Our next stop was the abandoned Mary Kathleen uranium mine - it was a place of mixed feelings as the mine is a scar on the natural landscape but the water is a beautiful colour. It is a sight to behold.
Lastly, we stopped for dinner at the Buffs Club in Mount Isa before spending the night at an overnight rest area.Read more
