Nach einer Rundfahrt durch die karge Landschaft der Vildmarksvägen passieren wir nochmal unseren Schlafplatz und fahren dann die einhundertzwanzig Kilometer zurück zum Abzweig nach Sorsele.

Ob es sich gelohnt hat, ich denke schon. Denn ich wollte es nochmal anschauen, habe mir also einen Wunsch erfüllt. Dennoch ist die meiste Strecke eintönig. Wasser und Wald, heute erheitert durch einen sonnigen Tag und die blauen Seen und Flüsse.

Der Weg nach Sorsele ist lang. Knapp hundertfünfzig Kilometer über weitgehend kleine Straßen, Lehmwege, irgendwann ein Stück die E12. Wieder keine Tiere, nur Mücken und Bremsen, allerdings im niedrigen Hunderterbereich, die Moskitos. Viel schöne Landschaft, wie die Bilder zeigen.

Es wird wärmer, man spricht von achtzehn Grad Celsius, wobei die Sonne deutlich mehr an Wärme auf blaue Dach produziert.

Irgendwann setze ich unser Ziel (schwarzer Punkt) in mein Visier, der Navi verändert die Richtung und so liegen noch gut tausend Kilometer vor uns.

Ich habe lange gezögert, mich öffentlich festzulegen, und auch jetzt noch steht Unsicherheit im Raum. Aber eins der fehlenden Puzzleteile für Norwegen ist die Küstenstraße von der russischen Grenze bis nach Skibotn.

Die direkte Entfernung zwischen den beiden Standpunkten beträgt knapp 700 km, die tatsächliche Strecke dürfte mindestens doppelt so lang sein.

Heute erreicht der Bus ein neues Level. Und im Moment darf ich sagen, dass es uns Dreien den bekannten Umständen entsprechend gut geht.

Kurz außerhalb von Sorsele stehen wir mit vier Campern auf einem kleinen Podest überm See 'Norr-svergoträsket', der lustigerweise nach einer Hand oder einen Maul aussieht. Die Sonne scheint ins Fenster, aber nun ziehen Wolken auf, ein leichter Wind bewegt die Äste der Bäume am Wasser.

After a loop through the barren landscape of the *Vildmarksvägen* (Wilderness Road), we pass our previous overnight spot again and then drive the 120 kilometers back to the turn-off for Sorsele.

Was it worth it? I think so. I wanted to see it again, so I fulfilled a wish of mine. Still, most of the route is monotonous—water and forest—though today it is brightened by a sunny day and the blue lakes and rivers.

The road to Sorsele is long. Just under 150 kilometers, mostly along small roads and dirt tracks, with a stretch on the E12 at one point. Again, no animals—only midges and horseflies (though the mosquitoes numbered only in the low hundreds). Lots of beautiful scenery, as the photos show.

It’s getting warmer; the forecast mentions 18 degrees Celsius, though the sun generates significantly more heat on the blue roof.

Eventually, I lock our destination (a black dot) into my sights; the GPS adjusts the route, leaving us with a good thousand kilometers still ahead.

I hesitated for a long time to commit publicly, and uncertainty still lingers. But one of the missing puzzle pieces for the Norway trip is the coastal road stretching from the Russian border to Skibotn.

The direct distance between the two points is just under 700 km, but the actual route is likely at least twice that length.

Today, the bus reaches a new level. And right now, I can say that the three of us are doing well, all things considered.

Just outside Sorsele, we are parked alongside four other campers on a small raised area overlooking Lake Norr-svergoträsket—which, amusingly, looks like a hand or a mouth.
