Final Day of our Arctic Adventure

This morning we awoke, wrapped up cosily in our sleeping bags. The night spent in the ice room was a truly amazing experience and surprisingly restful. Our sleeping bags were covered in a light layer of ice crystals that had fallen from the ceiling overnight. We dressed in the warm en-suite bathroom, before heading off for an early breakfast.
After checking out of the hotel we went for a final wander on the frozen river. Today the weather is dull and cloudy but still bitterly cold. To complete our Icehotel experience we visited the ice bar and drank cocktails from glasses made of ice cut from the river!
Having travelled back to a rather chaotic Kiruna airport, our plane to Stockholm arrived a little late and was then further delayed for over an hour while it was de-iced on the runway. Arriving back in Stockholm later than planned meant we had to skip our time in the lounge, but we did enjoy the meal and drinks on the plane!Read more
