Day 11

Today we explored Osaka city as we hadn’t done it properly yet! We ventured out early and took the metro across the city to go to the Osaka Aquarium which we had heard was meant to be good. Stopped off on route for some breakfast (shared a breakfast burrito) and another good coffee (Osaka has the best coffee spots so far)

Queues weren’t too bad to get in and the aquarium was cool! We saw whale sharks and lots of different species of squids and fish native to Japanese waters. After we got some homemade lemonade snd got the metro back in to Dotonbori which is the main centre of Osaka. Was busy and all fancy shops were there so we tracked down a famous cheesecake that they make there that wobbles when you jiggle it! There was a slight queue but worth the wait and the whole thing is just 1000 yen (£6 or so).

We grabbed some lunch in the centre and walked to a cool shrine that is in the shape of a dragon! After the shrine we speed walked again to the famous Osaka castle on the other side of the city. Was amazing to see and definitely one of the more impressive castles we’ve seen. We had pre booked tickets to see inside so thankfully skipped the queues and headed straight in. Decided to walk not wait for the elevator to the top but worth it for great views of the city!

Found a nice charcoal grill place by the hotel which was good and cheap, we had a mix of beef skirt, chicken and peppers all done in the grill. I like the way here they stagger plates of food so you never have lots ag the same time! As soon as you finish they seem to bring out the next plate! We had our favourite ginger highballs again to wash it down (although getting a bit sick of them now!)

After food we went into the nightlife part of Osaka and went to a few different bars (including an Irish bar) to have some pints and more drinks. Sinéad managed to drag me along to a club which was interesting but good None the less and didn’t get back until 2am via a taxi!Okumaya devam et
