The Journey Begins

Early morning flight as we head to Newark to head across the pond.
Hydration Station

We all know hydration is going to be important on this journey.
Welcome to EWR!

And I thought I was big…
Flight change… play time?

Since United changed our flight to an earlier one we had extra time in Newark to play in the jungle!
Paris Bound!

And we are off again. In the morning Paris!
Good Morning!

Almost there! T minus 50 minus to Paris.
But how?

But how do we get there from here? We love public transportation but man it’s hard to navigate for the first time sometimes. It took us almost an hour to figure out how to get to the OrlyVal…
Swimming… I don’t think so

You’re telling me our top athletes swam in this?! No thanks I’ll pass. Made for a nice shaded walk though.
Olymics… almost

We made it to the Olympics… almost. We were just a few days after closing ceremony, (and a few days before the Paralympic’s) but we did get to see the rings on the Eiffel Tower.
Très bien!

Beef bourguignon was so good. I licked the bowl clean!
No Pligrim Stamps to be Found

Unfortunately Norte Dame de Paris is still not open (anticipated December 2024) since the fire. And no one answered at the dioceses office so we weren’t able to get the pilgrim passport stamped.
Wake me up before you go!

Up and moving again already! I highly recommend Hotel Des Mines for anyone going to Paris. Easy access to the blue line from both airports, walking distance to Norte Dame Paris, easy access to otherBaca lagi
Trains for the win!

Next stop (after we switch trains) is SJPP.
Score!

We scored window seats for the train ride! So far we have seen trees, sunflower fields, and corn. Some very French looking villages and lots of windmills.
Buen Camino

We have arrived! And there’s a music festival tonight starting at 19:30! Who knew! Now to hustle off to the laundry so we are clean and getting to go in the morning.
Outdoor laundry

Well that’s a new experience. Laundry machines outside in the parking lot of the market. So we washed and dried and shopped for tomorrow’s snacks…
Dinner and a View

Post dinner we took a walk. Here you can see the patio (with the red flowers) where we had dinner with a view. It is nice to have so much outdoor dinning in our life right now.
What a view!

Just a quiet night in the French Basque Country. Enjoying the garden and view while the music from the festival drifts in.
499 to go!

Refuge Orisson

I’ve never been so happy to see a lunch stop!
A bed for me!

Look! BORDA even has Dino beds for me! (They are actually for phones but…)
On the road again

Cool and rainy start to the day.
Views?

So it’s foggy and rainy. The views had not been great but atleast it’s cooler than yesterday!
