Day 2 - Arrival at Ubud Village hotel

Our first impression of Bali was green beauty everywhere. They celebrate their gods and spirituality everywhere. There's temples, shrines and offerings everywhere you look and many statues and momuments.

After a long flight, I fell asleep for the last half hour of the drive waking up when we arrived in Ubud. As we turned down the street to the entrance we were initially worried because how could the beautiful pictures we saw be on the edge of this broken road. But once we got up into reception we were in awe.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming, bowing to us and offering us a refreshing drink that tasted like a mocktail mojito. The views blew us away. As far as you could see was plush greenery, rice fields and a beautiful pool. It was better than any of the photos. The manager then explained to us that they'd upgraded us to a bigger villa and drove us down to it. WOW. Opening our door to a welcome home Gallal & Katie was special and then there was the villa. The pool was gorgeous and blue surrounded by greenery so we're completely secluded. The bed had rose petals as an honeymoon treat along with petals in the outdoor bath. It was next level luxury with his and hers sinks, ponds all round and king size bed.

After checking in with home we then decided to walk into town to get some waters and mixers for a drink. We were so surprised that ubud town was right on our doorstep. The roads were so busy filled with mopeds, bikes and cars, it felt like a world removed from our tranquil villa. We had a walk up the street taking it all in but we were tired. So we grabbed some drinks and headed back.

We decided to order room service which was a completely new experience for me as I'm usually too tight to pay! But here we ordered a steak & potato dish for Roy and I had a chicken quesidalla with chips and it worked out around £20 bargain.

For the novel experience we both then had a bath outside. But I had to add a lot more hot water for my bath! It was a great memory to have. Then finally bed time. Though it was only early at home my body was ready for a sleep so after reading the bedtime story they provided I fell into a lovely deep sleep.Leggi altro
