    Sunny, beautiful, brisk day for our visit. Great tour guides for our tour of the house as well as for the “Slavery at Monticello” tour. Big change from my last visit. They were definitely not sugar coating the fact that Jefferson owned 600 slaves over the course of his life and only freed 6 upon his death.

    In contrast George Washington freed all his slaves upon his death, and at some point during his lifetime as he became more enlightened, he refused to purchase any more.    Read more
