    Packing day

    July 30 in the Netherlands ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

    Slow packing day in Epe. Took some time to make a few extra signs and make sure I have everything I need to do my job.

    This will be the first tour where I'm traveling light myself so I can fly with all the merch equipment.

    Later that night, I headed to my parents' house since they live close to the airport and I have an early flight in the morning.

    Fekete zaj Festival Hungary

    July 31 in Hungary ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

    I woke up early after a very short and slightly stressful night. My alarm wasn't the first thing to wake me though, Embla had already made herself comfortable in my room. She was in such a cuddly mood, purring so loudly that it made it incredibly hard to get out of bed. I had missed that so much, but unfortunately it was time to leave for the airport.

    The journey went surprisingly smoothly. Check-in was easy, I grabbed some breakfast and a coffee in the lounge, and before I knew it I was on my flight to Budapest. The rest of the crew had arrived the day before and stayed at an airport hotel, so I met them just as our Zeppelin nightliner pulled in, perfect timing.

    Our driver this tour is Rocket. He wasn't our driver last time, but he's good friends with our previous one, and it already feels like home on the road again.

    From there we drove straight to the festival in Hungary. The bus couldn't park at the venue, so we had to cross-load everything. I quickly unloaded all the merchandise before heading over to the festival site.

    We arrived around 2 p.m. and it was incredibly hot, around 35°C. After checking in, I was happy to discover we had a spacious, air-conditioned backstage area. Since Eivør was headlining the festival, we had a really comfortable setup, which was very welcome in that heat.

    We also had a little tour emergency. One of the crew had accidentally left her hand luggage at Copenhagen Airport the day before. Inside were her in-ears, which are essential because she's deaf, along with all of her hair pieces that are a big part of her stage look. We put our heads together and got creative, and I ended up making new hair pieces out of a black garbage bag. Somehow they looked really cool and gave exactly the right effect on stage, so the show was saved.

    The festival itself was quite small, but it had such a warm, family-like atmosphere with a really mixed crowd. Merchandise sales weren't amazing, but it was still a good first show. The technical crew had a few challenges, but they're used to making things work no matter what.

    We enjoyed some great food from the festival, wrapped up the first show of the tour, and headed back to the bus. It had been a long day, but a good one. We stayed up chatting for a while, so I don't think I got to bed until around 4 a.m. No wild party, just a relaxed evening before hitting the road again, with Poland waiting for us next.     Poznań day off

    August 1 in Poland ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

    We arrived in Poznań, Poland, fairly early and, for once, we all had our own hotel rooms. That meant it was finally time to properly relax.

    Right next to the hotel was a huge aquapark with an equally impressive spa. It had around 20 different saunas, hot tubs, and all kinds of wellness facilities, so I decided to spend a couple of hours there before dinner. It was incredibly relaxing, even if it took me a while to figure out what everything meant in Polish. Thanks to a discount voucher from the hotel, it was also surprisingly affordable.

    After steaming myself for two hours, I rushed back to the hotel to get changed because the rest of the crew was already ready to leave. We had planned our first proper steak dinner of the tour an Eivør tradition at this point. We all love a good steak, so choosing a restaurant is never difficult. We ended up at Restaurant Evil, where I had an amazing T-bone steak. Even our bus drivers joined us, which isn't always common on tours, but to us they're part of the family.

    After dinner, Emily found what she thought would be a simple alternative rock bar for a few beers. It turned out to be the perfect mix. The bartender made incredible cocktails, and after I ordered a Singapore Sling, almost everyone else followed. A few rounds of cocktails and shots later, the night was definitely in full swing.

    Unfortunately, we also had an unpleasant encounter with an Eivør fan and his girlfriend. At first they were friendly, but after drinking too much, the guy started crossing boundaries by repeatedly touching Emily and me despite being told to stop. Eventually he was kicked out, which thankfully ended the situation.

    By then we'd all had more than enough to drink, so instead of continuing the night elsewhere, we headed back to the hotel. Before going to bed, I made sure to drink a litre of water, hoping my future self would appreciate it the next morning.    Read more

    Poznań showday

    August 2 in Poland ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

    The next morning, I woke up feeling like there was still enough alcohol in my system to know I definitely wasn't at my best. We didn't have to check out until noon and couldn't access the venue before 2 p.m., so I tried to get a bit more sleep before starting the day.

    My plan was to do a full merch restock, but standing in the trailer in 35°C heat with a proper hangover was... not ideal. I could only count a few pallets at a time before feeling sick again. Meanwhile, messages started coming in from the rest of the crew, and it turned out almost everyone was just as wrecked as I was. Except for Mikael and Per they had actually stayed out partying until 10 in the morning.

    Despite feeling awful, I was the first one awake and working because I had to get the new card machine up and running and sort out a few things before doors opened. I wasn't moving very fast, but I managed to get the essentials done.

    As soon as we arrived at the venue, I loaded up on ginger shots and plenty of water, and within an hour I started feeling human again. Setting up the merch stand went smoothly, and by the time the audience arrived, the worst of the hangover was behind me.

    The show was great. We had a lovely crowd, strong merchandise sales, and a busy meet & greet. Ironically, the people who had partied until 10 a.m. only got hit by their hangovers a couple of hours before showtime, so everyone learned their lesson early in the tour.

    What I love about this crew is that nobody judges anyone. We all overdid it together, we all laughed at each other, and somehow that just makes us feel even more like a family.

    After the show, we packed everything up and hit the road for the overnight drive to Budapest.    Read more

    Off-day Budapest

    August 3 in Hungary ⋅ ☀️ 38 °C

    We arrived back in Budapest, although this tour we don't have any shows here. It was already our second visit to the city on this tour, and we'd be returning to the same hotel again in a couple of days for our official day off. Splitting the long drives into two parts made the upcoming travel a lot easier.

    It was another hot day around 35°C with barely any wind. Emily, Eivør and I shared a day room, which was perfect. I caught up on some work for projects back home, took a proper shower, and finally washed my hair.

    The hotel was right next to a shopping mall, so, like always, the whole crew ended up going shopping. The Faroese crew members love shopping on tour, understandably, since they don't have the same variety of stores back home.

    The three of us grabbed lunch first before wandering through a few shops. It wasn't a huge mall, but it had everything we needed. I found two cute dresses, stocked up on my favourite pharmacy essentials at DM, and finally replaced my flip-flops after my old pair of 15 years finally gave up. It was nice to swap my hot Dr. Martens for something a little more suitable for the summer heat.

    After our shopping trip, we headed back to the hotel for dinner and spent a little more time relaxing in the room together before getting back on the bus for the long drive to Romania.

    Before everyone went to sleep, we had a little movie night in the lounge and watched Spinal Tap 2, the perfect touring film. During one of our fuel stops, we all stocked up on crisps, popcorn, and snacks, they had the craziest flavours, so we spent the evening watching the movie, cosy as it is.    Read more

    Quantic Club Bucharest

    August 4 in Romania ⋅ ☀️ 35 °C

    We arrived in Bucharest after a long drive through the mountains. The roads were pretty rough, and I woke up feeling a bit nauseous. At first I thought I'd simply woken up early, but then I realized we'd crossed into a different time zone. I climbed back into bed for a few more hours and switched to a longer bunk since I discovered my previous one was a bit too short for me. Luckily, the beds on this bus are incredibly comfortable.

    After some extra sleep and, of course, another ginger shot, I felt much better. I'm basically surviving on ginger this tour, and thankfully we have plenty of ginger shots on our rider.

    Our show was at Quantic Club in Bucharest, a venue I hadn't visited in almost ten years. It was really nice to be back somewhere familiar and to recognize some familiar faces.

    Setting up merch was easy because the local rep was a merch seller himself, so he'd already prepared a great space for me. The only challenge was figuring out the stock and pricing since it had been a long time since Iver had played a headline show here.

    It turned out to be a fantastic night. The audience was amazing, the show went really well, and merch sales were incredible. After only three shows we'd already sold out of several items, which was exactly what we hoped for since we're clearing out older stock before the new collection arrives.

    Good food, good people, a bit of laundry, and some much-needed rest made it a great day. It was still incredibly hot, but knowing we were heading back to our Budapest hotel for a recovery day.    Read more

    Off-day Budapest 2

    August 5 in Hungary ⋅ ☀️ 39 °C

    Back to the same hotel in Budapest, and back to the same construction outside. Emily, Eivør and I shared a day room again, which was perfect for a little downtime.

    First, Emily and I went to the supermarket to stock up on some things for the bus. I also picked up some medical stuff for my mouth, as I'd burned the inside of it and it stubbornly refused to heal. After that, I spent some time doing computer work in the hotel before heading back to the shopping mall with Eivør We did a bit more shopping, looked around, and searched for some hair accessories for her mostly just a nice way to kill some time.

    We had dinner together at the hotel buffet, which was actually really lovely and cozy. Afterwards, shower and back to the bus.    Read more

    Showday Ljubljana

    August 6 in Slovenia ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

    Today we arrived in Ljubljana, a city where, as far as we could remember, Eivør hadn't played a headline show before. We arrived early, the backstage area was ready, and it was already incredibly warm.

    My concession lady, zoe, wasn't arriving until 3 p.m., so I had plenty of time to do a full stock count of everything left in the trailer. Once that was done, I could relax a little backstage and take it easy before the show.

    When Zoe arrived, it was clear they hadn't quite figured out the setup yet, so things felt a little strange at first. In the end, I decided it was easiest to just let her use our setup and helped her arrange everything so it looked similar to how we normally present the eivor merchandise. After that, I let her do her thing.

    I had a fairly quiet evening. I helped Eivør with some more hair pieces and spent most of the night taking it easy. Sales weren't the biggest, but considering it was around 35°C outside and there was no air conditioning inside the venue, it wasn't exactly ideal for selling merchandise. When people are already hot and sweaty, the last thing they want is to carry around a hoodie or stand in a warm room waiting for their merch.

    We can't have a big-selling show every night, and that's okay. After the show, we packed up and continued on. I went to bed relatively early because tomorrow is Brutal Assault and that's the show I've been looking forward to most on this tour.    Read more

    Brutal Assault festival

    August 7 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

    Brutal Assault. I've been hyping up the whole group for days because this is probably my favourite festival. I've been here so many times as a visitor and with Heilung, so I was incredibly excited to show everyone the festival grounds, the atmosphere, the people, the catering, and how well everyone is taken care of here.

    I was also slightly nervous about being here because Michael and his girlfriend were attending. Festivals can sometimes be difficult because he hasn't always been very nice to me in public spaces. But I'm really happy I can share these things with this group and just be honest about how I'm feeling.

    I woke up early and hadn't slept very well. A few business emails were also keeping my brain busy, so I had a lot going on in my head. But that wasn't going to stop me from putting on my cutest outfit and making this an unforgettable festival day. There were so many friends and people I wanted to see, and I was genuinely excited.

    Since this was a festival show, I didn't have to work the merch stand, so I could actually enjoy the day. I went in early for breakfast, which I still consider some of the best festival catering around. Our backstage rooms were already ready, so I took a quick shower and got myself festival-ready.

    Emily and I decided to twin again, so we had another cap-and-braids day. We've somehow become this little female-power duo behind Eivør, and it's honestly become a whole thing now.

    I spent the day walking around, shopping, and catching up with so many friends. And one of the biggest surprises of the day was actually seeing Michael. We ended up talking several times and had a really good conversation for about an hour, just catching up on life. He even helped me with some business ideas and answered some questions I had about complicated tax things in France. He was genuinely kind and helpful, and that was a really unexpected highlight of the day.

    Eivør played the main stage in a beautiful time slot, right after the headliners, and the show was received incredibly well. At the same time, my Icelandic friends were playing, so I ran straight from Eivør show to catch their set, but unfortunately, I arrived just in time for the last note. I went back backstage to sort the merchandise and then ran back to find them and say hello. I only got about ten minutes with them before they had to leave, but it was still so nice to see them.

    After everything was packed down, we headed back to the bus for our own little bus party. There were gin and tonics, lots of laughs, and, admittedly, we probably took it a little too far again. Some people apparently kept going until 9 or 10 in the morning, while I eventually gave in and went to bed earlier because I was completely exhausted.

    But honestly, this was one of those days I'll remember for a very long time. Everything came together the festival, the friends, the show, the unexpected conversations, and the whole atmosphere. Just an incredibly good day.    Read more

    Showday Munster skaters palace

    August 8 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

    We arrived at Skaters Palace around 3 p.m., which was perfect because it gave us some extra time to sleep. Surprisingly, I wasn't suffering too badly from the hangover. I think I managed to drink enough water and, unlike some others in this group, I also managed to say no to a few drinks.

    Skaters Palace is basically a skate park transformed into a venue. It wasn't going to be a huge show, more of a smaller filler date, which is something we do quite often in Germany.

    I had a long phone call with Sjoerd, was very much needed

    We had a good crowd, including a big group of fans who came together, and merchandise sales were solid. Nothing too crazy happened today, but sometimes it's nice to have one of those simple, straightforward show days.    Read more
