Strände / Beaches

Für die nächsten Tage nehmen wir uns vor Kubas Strände und Wasserwelt mal genauer kennen zu lernen. Dazu geht es erst ins beschauliche Playa Larga an der Südküste Kubas. Hier machen wir eine Schnorcheltour und gucken uns im mangrovenbewachsenen Nationalpark in der Nähe ein paar Flamingos an. Hier müssen wir auch feststellen, dass es auch in Kuba mal regnet, glücklicherweise nur den halben Tag. Unser nächster Strandstopp ist Varadero auf der andere Seite der Insel. Mit seinem 20km langen Sandstrand ist Varadero auch tatsächlich ein kleines Paradies, allerdings stehen hier auch schon entsprechend viele Hotels und Luxusresorts. Überfüllt ist der Strand trotzdem nicht.

For the next couple of days we decided to take a closer look at Cuba’s beaches. Our first stop is the small beach town Playa Larga at Cuba’s south coast. We go snorkeling and look for flamingos at the close by national park. We also encounter our first rainy day here but thankfully it clears up in the afternoon. Our next stop is Varadero on the other side of the island. It’s 20km long beach feels a little bit like paradise but we’re not the first to realize this so the peninsula is dotted with hotels and luxury resorts.
