• We are at home!

    January 15 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 1 °C

20 hours later we arrived back to our apartment in Munich! It was a long and exhausting journey and I feel unfortunately worse than before in Mexico…

Here a quick summary of the journey:

    - 27 days
    - 7 flights
    - 7 ADO bus rides
    - 4 ferries (to Isla Mujeres and to Holbox)
    - swim at 4 cenotes, Hierve el Agua, beaches of Gulf of Mexico and Carribean sea
    - 8 different accommodations
    - 10.000x tacos and tortillas 😆
    - 27x guacamole and few bottles of Mezcal
    - 2 day car rentals
    - 2 visits of Hairdresser

The trip was nice but we have not become a huge Mexico fans and especially Yucatán was extremely busy and overpriced. Due to close proximity to the US many things have been adapted, e.g. tipping culture ~ it’s expected to pay up to 20% tip sometimes you are not even asked and they put 20% tip automatically on the bill. Even in all inclusive resorts you are expected to tip after each drink, room cleaning… something we didn’t know and didn’t like. Uber is not working in most of the places as the drivers agreed on high fix prices for the rides. Also the weather was not as good as I thought. The temperatures hardly reached 30 degrees and it was windy most of the times making it perfect for sightseeing but maybe too cold sometimes for swimming.
