    Our last stop before reaching Japan. The boys (including Matt) have spent the last 24 hours planning the next 24 hours.     First full day in Tokyo

    Our day began with a visit to the Imperial Palace Plaza - the current residence of Japan’s Imperial Family. Then to Asakusa district where the most famous Buddhist temple Senso-ji is located. Walked along the famous 820-ft long Nakamise shopping street that is the front entrance to the Senso-ji Temple. Saw lines of stalls selling different Japanese-styled goods and souvenirs.Read more

Kaiseki is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner which balances the taste, texture, appearance, and colors of food. Only fresh seasonal ingredients are used and are prepared in ways that aim to enhance their flavor. Dishes were beautifully arranged and garnished.Read more

    Yokohama and Kamakura Day Trip

    Matt and I traveled to Kamakura, a picturesque seaside city nestled in forested hills on Sagami Bay renowned for its Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines and rich history. Saw the second largest Buddha statue in the country. Next, we continued to Yokohama, Japan's second largest city. Saw the Red Brick Warehouse, where early-20th century custom buildings now house stylish shops, and enjoyed the waterside Yamashita Park. Rode the Yokohama Eye and toured the Cup Noodle Museum.

    Nara Park to see the Sika Deer. One bit me in the butt. Took the train back to Kyoto to see Senbon Torii (Thousand Torii Gates) and Fushimi Inari Taisha. Went to a local ramen spot for lunch. Then the boys took us on a shopping adventure. Finished the night with Kyoto Tower and a Wagyu steak sandwich.Read more

    Took the bullet train from Kyoto to Osaka. What would have been an hour and a half drive was a 15 minute train ride. 😳

    Walked around multiple shopping plazas in Osaka. Many, many stores and stops later we checked into the hotel and headed to dinner at a conveyor belt sushi spot. Great final day in JapanRead more

    Worlds Best Cheesecake?

    Rikuro’s Namba Japanese Cheesecake is claimed to the be the worlds best. Tasted more like a soufflé and had raisins in it. So while it was good, it was not the world’s best cheesecake, in my opinion (but the apple pie was amazing).Read more
