Arrived in Vancouver, and they let us in, just waiting for our flight to Calgary. The birthday celebrations begin with my Australian one first. 😉

  • Banff

    October 25, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

The trip from Calgary to Banff just kept getting better and better. Not as green this time of year of course but the mountains are just spectacular. What we did find is how spread out the suburbs are around Calgary, the city sits in a little pocket with the houses a few kilometres away. Once in Banff no matter where you look it's mountains. Ps WITH SNOW 👏 with more tonight expected! Can't wait for our trip to the mountains tomorrow.Read more

    ☆Thank heavens for thermals.
☆seeing snow has made me feel like a little kid.

  • Banff to Jasper

    October 27, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 2 °C

Very early start today to enable us to get to experience our helicopter ride before the wind picked up. I have included some photos and videos, but they just don't show the grandeur of the scenery. It was a truly special trip, and I even saw a long horn sheep!
Our early morning trip also gave us the opportunity to have a short stop at Lake Louise, which was not a planned part of our tour. It was early, on day break, but still beautiful in the early morning light.

  • Evening in Banff

  • Guess where?

    October 28, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 1 °C

No where you turn in this beautiful little village, the devastation of the bush fires is still a huge reminder of the losses of 18 months ago. People are still living in temporary housing and to see how the fires surrounded the entire village is truly terrifying.Read more

  • What to do in Jasper?

    October 28, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 1 °C

A walking food tour, local restaurants sampling their food, locally brewed beers, wine and spirits. With a side order of history and work from the local artists. What a great way to pass the afternoon, good company and good food and bevies.Read more

  • Jasper to Vancouver.

    October 29, 2025 in Canada ⋅ 🌙 7 °C

Early morning start, not too early as the trains never run on time. We were only an hour late leaving, so pretty good! Passenger trains have to give way to freight trains as they own the lines. I actually took the time to count one of the freight trains today, 148 carriages of double height containers!!
The scenery didn't disappoint again today. We moved from alpine forests to more open country.

  • Hello Vancouver!

    October 30, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

The train did not disappoint views were perfect and arrived late! 🤣 Once we got organised, we made the most of our day, walking around soaking up the colours of Vancouver. Also shouted ourselves a treat to see the most of this beautiful city.Read more

  • Vancouver day 2

    October 31, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

    Happy Halloween 🎃
Very rainy day, which made things a little less enjoyable, or should I say, just a little more challenging! But that is winter in Vancouver! The hop on hop of bus made it a lot easier to get around the city, learning and staying dry. So be ready for an overload of Aquarium photos! 😉 Best option for a rainy day.Read more

  • Day 3 in Vancouver!

    November 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Well, day 3 didn't look like a winner, but the weather bureau actually gets it right around here. They said sunshine at 12.00 and so it was! We took the punt and left for Capilano suspension bridge at 11.00 this morning. Wow, another day that the photos just don't do it justice. So, if you don't particularly like photos of crazy Halloween decorations or autumn leaves, look away now! 😉
Since the weather ended so well, I even talked Col into a trip to the Granville Island Markets. So dinner tonight was all our little yummies from the markets on the bed watching the final game of the World Series...go the Blue Jays.
It was a very big day of walking!!!

  • Vegas Baby!

    November 4, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

We said farewell to the peace and serenity of Vancouver and said hello to the polar opposite of Las Vegas! No more snow-capped peaks, now it is lights, noise and people everywhere! And some of the sights, it is people watching on a whole new level!!! 😳🇺🇲Read more

  • Wedding Day🥂

    November 4, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

No, not us! But our friends have decided to renew their vows, with John and Glenys doing it on their 42nd wedding anniversary. ❤️
It was a big day of photos and just a few drinks to celebrate! 🥂
The afternoon was filled with more sights and sounds of Vegas and then off to our first Ice Hockey game, complete with traditional hockey food, hot dogs and pretzels. With the local team, Vegas Knights, winning. In my opinion it's a lot more show than sport 🤷🏼‍♀️ But that's Vegas Baby!!

  • Grand Canyon. 😲

    November 5, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

While I was pretty sure nothing was going to touch the Rockies for beauty, you just can not be impressed by the Grand Canyon. Not the softness of snow-covered mountains and trees bejewelled in their coating of snow with crystal clear lakes, Nevada is raw and rugged, the colours are still varied, and there is still beauty in it's vastness. The Grand Canyon, Hover Dam and the Joshua Tree forest were so stark, but the size and changing colours from the evening sunset are impressive. Once again, we have done it all!Read more

  • Our first hiccup!

    November 6, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Here we sit at the airport! Got all the way out to the runway waiting our turn, then returned to the terminal with computer errors. Instead of leaving at 8.30am our new flight leaves at 1.11 pm. So here we sit in a spot that cannot make a mocha! Oh God lord it's not that hard. 🙄Read more

  • Miami 🍹😳

    November 7, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Sadly, with delays from the day before our time was a little tight in Miami and we needed to find a laundromat! That had its own set of stories! 🤣 Let's just say language differences do present their own set of problems.
However, brunch eased the pain with the biggest cocktail and a beaut fresh cob salad.
The end of the day was spent with a little shopping, cocktails, sightseeing, more cocktails and ending up in a drag bar. Where we have mastered the art of "fan flicking" thanks to some gorgeous girls from " Bacon Bitches". Ending the night with invitations for breakfast the next morning at their restaurant.

  • Cruise day!

    November 8, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Yes we all know these cruise boats are huge, but I can't believe the space and what is packed into these floating cities. It's amazing. We have sampled only a few of the bars, which have different styles from party to mellow and dinner was as expected....perfect. I think I will happily slip into the cruising lifestyle. 😎 🍹Read more

  • Puerto Plata

    November 10, 2025 in Dominican Republic ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Puerto Plata, in the Dominican Republic is new on the cruising stops and is beginning to find it's way in the tourist market. Not much to see and do but duty-free shopping, swim in the pool or drink. Guess which one we picked? 😉Read more

  • Charlotte Aamallei

    November 12, 2025 on the U.S. Virgin Islands ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Bus tour for the day, up to the gondola with amazing views of the island on a perfectly sunny day. A stop at Maagans Beach ⛱️ for morning tea and a swim. The crystal clear waters and the scenery reminded me of North Queensland.
Beyond the Port are lush green hills edged with turquoise waters. With the highlight being the view from Mount Isabel de Torres, accessible by a cable car ride up 2,600 feet to the summit.
One of the further highlights of the day was the Bushwaker drinks at the top of the gondola. It was very tasty, but only one was needed with about 5 shots of alcohol in each drink.
