Kandy 01: “Tickets to Ella”

Our first task of the day was to make sure that we got the train tickets for our trip to our next destination Ella. The tickets had been bought through an agency which a) confirmed the booking for the 8:53 am train, and b) informed us that the tickets had to be in paper form. They would be delivered to our hotel on the morning of the departure, or could be picked up at the agency’s office beforehand. To be on the safe side, we decided to take a Tuktuk to the respective office, where, however, nobody knew anything about train tickets. But we were able to speak with someone on the phone, and were told that the tickets would come the same evening by train from the capital Colombo. We should not worry, we would receive them in the morning between 7 and 7:30 am. At around 7:30 we received a message that we were put on the 11 am train! At 8 o’clock the next morning the tickets were delivered to our hotel .
