Beautiful Vistas on a ‘Badumpbump’ Road

Clear blue sky over green fields is such a great soul food! It never gets old.
Today was 76 miles of riding across a territory with only one town at the 44 mile mark. I was apprehensive, so we stayed in a motel last night and got ourselves fed and on the road at 7:30. Finished riding at 6 pm.
In the ‘thrush is stranger than fiction’ category, we encountered a piece of a windmill tower that fell off a truck yesterday. You can see the picture. What a hoot!
For lunch, we sat by the road and watched a herd (?) of horses. Later a deer stared at us until we stopped and then BOUNDED away. How do they make it look so effortless?
Parts of the road were truly crummy,: no shoulder and ‘badumpbump’ dips every 10 to 50 feet. Each one is 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep and when my rear wheel hits them it’s like a punch to the spine. It’s a first world problem, though and overwhelmed by the views and birdsong.
I heard a birdsong today that I’ve never heard before which was a delight!Leia mais
