    Type 2 Fun

    June 23, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

The last few days have consisted of type 2 fun, the kind that is an arduous adventure in the moment, but makes a good story later.
On Friday, we set out from Jordan with a good breakfast at the Summit Corrall. About 17 miles into the ride we got to road construction that we’d heard about. They weren’t working that day, probably because of threatening rain, so no one was around to shuttle us around 10 miles of packed dirt road into a stiff headwind. It took about three hours to cross the 10 miles. We couldn’t make the planned 66 miles, and had to hold up at a the Flowing Wells rest stop. It poured rain on us, so we stayed cozy in our tents until the rain stopped mid morning.
Yesterday, it was a 36 mile ride up and down rolling hills for about 25 of the miles. Each hill is about 100 to 250 feet of climbing, a blip for a car and a challenge for a bike.
Richard encountered a bent tooth on his smallest front chain ring. While we were having a snack and fixing Richards bike, a local man came out to ask if we needed anything. The bar where we’d planned to lunch was closed, which meant we didn’t have as much good food as we expected. He brought us some chicken! People are so kind when they feel safe! That’s type 2 fun; running low on food and experiencing human kindness a and generosity as a result❤️
Last night we camped at Circle, MT with a beautiful view of a stream.
