    An overnighter in Uruguay

    September 12, 2023 in Uruguay ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

    📍Colonia Del Sacramento, Uruguay

We've been here 5 hours, and I'm ready to give my verdict - very pretty, very small, very quiet, and very expensive.

No, but seriously, this is such a gorgeous wee place and is the polar opposite of busy, bustling Buenos Aires. It's an hour's ferry journey to get here and well worth the fairly expensive price tag. We spent the afternoon wandering around the old town, which is listed as a Unesco World Heritage site, and you can see why! It's got cobbled stones, ancient trees, and colourful doors galore with cute shops dotted about.

We're just here for one night, which is what happens when you travel with a geography grad who loves ticking off country after country, but to be honest it seems enough time to get a taster, and it's much more expensive than Argentina. And, after insisting we try a particular hostel chain here, it turns out I don't love it and now can't wait to get out. Woops.

P.S. 6 days and counting in the same trackies for old Edam.
