We spent the morning at Solvang, a cute Danish little town in Santa Ynez Valley. I remembered going there with my family when I was a kid and it's still as cute as I remembered it to be. Byron and I had breakfast at a cafe, walked around, and enjoyed some aebleskiver. It's like a powdered donut with raspberry on top. It was a treat!Read more

We spent the rest of the afternoon riding bikes around Stearns Wharf. It was stressful for me at first because I am already a weak bike rider to begin with and we had to go through this underpass to get to where we wanted to go. The underpass was like a freeway! I freaked out and didn't stop feeling tense until we arrived at the shopping center. After that, the streets were much more peaceful. We saw some great artwork and spotted a couple of guys that were working on their piece. We were able to chat with one of them for a little bit.Read more

After we returned our bikes, we made it right on time to the pier and watched the sunset. Fortunately the sunset was within the 1 hour we had to wait for a table at Santa Barbara Shellfish Company. Byron and I were watching the servers in the restaurant while we waited and there was a server that looked like Ryan Reynolds! Hahaha. We had a great dinner! Byron had the local crab and I had the best lobster ever! Super happy!Read more

  • Simi Valley, CA

On our way home, we stopped by Simi Valley to attend a church called Cornerstone in hopes to see Francis Chan speak before he left the church. We were starving and I was thrilled to find that their church offered donuts and coffee. The church was spacious and simple. It felt "homey" and I was not expecting that. I guess I was expecting a mega church, but I'm glad that's not what we walked into. Of course, Francis Chan wasn't there that week. :( Todd spoke and it was pretty crazy to hear him preach to a congregation that's there because of Francis and reassuring them that things will be fine when Francis leaves.Read more
