  • Weston Super Mare

    October 6, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

The See Monster, an artwork as part of the UK 'unboxed' series. Unfortunately my fear of heights prevented me from exploring it by climbing stairs or going in the lift but the others went and enjoyed it. Sue confirmed the steps were very scary going back down. Unfortunately it is only on for a few more weeks and will then be dismantled. There has been a lot of consternation about the cost of it. If it was there for longer, more people would get to see it.
A lovely day, warm and bracing in equal measure. Had cheese scone tea in a 40s Blitz theme cafe. Weston was expansive and pleasant on the front with its imported sand. Sadly not so impressive as you walked inland shopping streets. A very down and out feel to the place.

  • Time with Aled and family

    October 8, 2022 in Wales ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

I went in the van and met Aled and Judie at Morrisons. Took him to the park, there were a few children from his school there too. Then a MacDonalds treat and met up with the rest of the party and headed to Colby woods and Amroth, a lovely walk. Quick ice-cream then time to drop Aled off in no time. Fun evening game of Balderdash with Pat (Helen's Mum) joining us for a delicious meal ... curry, which David cooked and berry and apple crumble by Helen.Read more

  • Time with Rhian

    October 10, 2022 in Wales ⋅ ☀️ 10 °C

I drove to St Clears to pick up Rhian and we went for a pub lunch at the Savoy, Rhian's treat as she's working now! She wisely chose a club sandwich but didn't eat any as she ended up being sick after a latte and some cauliflower in batter, which we'd shared. She was able to take the sandwich home though. Not nice that she was ill but lovely to spend one to one time with her. She also bought me an early Christmas present of some flowers.
I was made-up to be treated by Rhian ... a first!

  • To Manorbier then Chris

    October 11, 2022 in Wales ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Left David and Helen's, then went to look at Manorbier, drove past a house for sale, set in an enclave of other former military houses. Not for us though. Lovely place to visit and a gorgeous beach but very much a holiday place.
Came on to camp in the van at Chris's. She cooked us a chicken pie.

  • Narberth

    October 12, 2022 in Wales ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Looked around Narberth with Chris this afternoon. An interesting place, lots of arty shops, a small town a bit bigger than Kirkby Lonsdale, with a fair bit going on and a swimming pool. Chris cooked for us again.Read more

  • Drive to Milford Haven

    October 13, 2022 in Wales ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

We drove to look around Pembroke, had a coffee by the water and impressive castle. An interesting mix of run-down and an ongoing building initiative to celebrate Henry Tudor and the castle. Bought pies (only £1.70 and really good) and leeks from a makers indoor event.
Continued on to Milford Haven and looked at some building plots there. They were too small and enclosed. Again an interesting mix of a very watchable working port harbour and some ugly industry.
Next destination was Haverfordwest, which we struggled to park in. Drove around a lot in search of suitable parking but ended up leaving for a drive-by viewing of a place we'd seen on-line. A pink detached house in a nice area but the drive at the side was far too narrow to take the van up.
Back to Chris's then we all went to view a house in Narberth on Jesse lane. It was OK. A fair bit of work required. Then they went for a cuppa as I wanted to walk around alone and get a feel for the place.
I cooked this evening so our first dinner guest in Harvey.
