    We had just arrived in Redding and most of us were starving. We walked to the Mexican place across the street and were all seated together. one highlight was the fresh guacamole made in front of us.

    It was fourth of July and there were fireworks🎇🎆. We were told they were at a convention center in the center of the city. Since we weren’t very prepared we set up right off the main road to watch the fireworks. We at pizza for dinner and enjoyed!Read more

  • Sundial Bridge

    First morning we had to split up. Most went to Lassen Volcanic National Park where as parents (who did not want to hike) , Vikas and Mallica (wanted to keep Toto away from volcanic sand) and Danish (who had to get the car air conditioner fixed) stayed back. They went to the Sundial Bridge in Redding.Read more

  • Lunch @ JJ's Cafe

    Stopped at JJ’s cafe, we all ate burgers. It was a small restaurant and to accommodate all 20 of us we had to sit at different tables. Food was great! The server messed up the order and the dad’s were blamed for it by the D’Souza sisters 🤫.Read more

  • Shasta Dam

    The next morning we headed to Shasta Dam, the second largest dam in the country. We walked over it, took photos, and then watched a short film on how the dam was made. The film explored the difficulty of construction and the lasting effect the the dam has had on California.Read more

  • Shasta Lake

    We stopped at the lake with the intent to rent a boat. We had no reservations and everything was sold out, even the Kayaks. We all bought water shoes and set out to see if we could find a place with beach access to the lake.Read more

  • Bailey Cove

    Stopped at Baileys cove looking for access to swim in Shasta Lake. Much to our disappointment, it was scorching hot, there was no shade, and no where to sit. Despite this Raghav jumped into the water.

    We stopped for lunch and were all seated on ten shaded patio. They took the kids orders first and the food came before the adults even ordered. the food was delicious but the kids had nothing to do after. The waitress suggested that we head to a nearby bridge where locals dive into the water.Read more

  • Brige Jumping

    While the adults were finishing lunch at Basshole the kids went out to explore the surrounding area. They came back to inform us that they saw a few locals jumping off an old bridge and wanted to do the same. Carol took the kids back and Raghav a little later to prevent the kids from jumping. Instead of stopping Raghav ended up jumping into the water along with Aditya, Tanay and Vir. The toughest part coming was climbing back up to the road from lake. After a couple of jumps the cops showed up and we all had to run.Read more

  • Hedge Creek Falls

    The falls were a short hike down from where the cars stopped. Once at the fall, we decided to hike/walk down the stream. This was a lot of fun but a after a few falls slipping on the rocks and minor bruising we headed back to the fall. Everyone was scared of going under the ice cold waterfall but $20 offer from Nitin was enough for kids to stand for 10 seconds under waterfall.

    Once we finished at the waterfall we headed back up for a quick snack and picture.

  • Mount Shasta

    We tried to get to the snow line of Mt. Shasta. We mapped our way to Mt. Shasta Ski Resort from Head Creek Falls. When we arrived at the resort, it was totally deserted and also the end of the road. The snow line was still higher than that. We found a good spot to take pictures. After the pictures we headed to Redding for our final evening of the trip.Read more
