• New Orleans at last

We arrived in Atlanta after a roughly 2 hou flight. First stop, bathroom. Thinking of you, Margaret! We walked to our gate, then ended up walking to the end of the terminal, stopping for coffee on the way back. Our flight from ATL, which was supposed to be early, but it ended up being about 10 minutes late. We hung out at the gate across "the street " and chatted. Finally, we boarded. This flight is only an hour. It was an old 737, so no seat back entertainment. (I was halfway through "Wicked for Good," and will have to finish on the way home, since the app isn't working either.

Once we arrived, we disembarked the plane and honored Margaret again. The bags took a while to arrive, but we found them easily by their red, "Rapid Transfer" tags. (Short layover in Atlanta). I was looking at costs for Lyfts and they were $58 for a relatively short trip. I decided to check the cost of Taxis and it turns out they are fixed price from the airport. $36!...plus tip.

We checked in at the Holiday Inn Express Downtown/French Quarter just before 5pm. It is a perfectly serviceable hotel, nice, but a bit shabby. We arrived at the 5th floor and went looking for our room. We are in 506 and one way started at 507 and the other way at 505. We wew a bit confused! We went back to the elevator and there it was--in the elevator "lobby!" Weird.
We chose our beds and unpacking areas and then set to work. We organized and i started looking for dinner options. As we were checking things out, Heather was testing the "barn door" on the toilet/ shower room. It is one of those doors on a track that goes back and forth. If you just pull it to close, it will just open and close over and over! Finesse is required! Now our code word for having to use the restroom is "going to the barn."

We ended up picking the first restaurant we were interested in, Luke. But we couldn't get a reservation until 8:15pm. So we decided to wander around before dinner.
