    Ocean breezes

    February 28, 2021 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

I left around 2:30, after goofing around in the yard and cleaning the house. The drive was uneventful, taking about an hour and a half.

I arrived promptly at 4pm and am checked in. I am on the first floor and the corner--so not exactly the best. But I'm enjoying a glass of wine before I walk into town to see what's what.

It is breezy, and I'm glad I grabbed the wool blanket!

    Sunset Day 1

    February 28, 2021 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 45 °F

The wind has died down, but there's still a lot of traffic on the gravel surface in front of the patio. Next time, I want a balcony!

The sun is setting and the sky is beautiful. I'll sit out here for a little while longer. Earlier, I walked towards the main part of town. At first I was on 101... yuck. Then I cut over to the ocean and enjoyed the view. I also stuck my toe into the ocean -- very briefly!

Back at the room, I turned on the fire place and will enjoy it later. I just had a lovely conversation with a woman and her little dog, Tito. She works at the restaurant I was going to order from, and said that they are out of steamer clams. I think that I'll eat out tomorrow.

The sun has set, leaving a strip of orange in the sky. Time to go in!

    Day 2

    March 1, 2021 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 48 °F

I didn't sleep well last night--a combination of too much wine and the room being too hot. But I made myself get up and start the day at about 7am.

After coffee and journaling, I decided to walk down to the shore for a little bit. I ended up walking all the way to the main drag. It took about a half an hour, but it was a nice walk. Not sunny, but also not breezy either. There's some sort of weird algae that is making the seafoam a gross brown color.

Once in the touristy area, I checked out the restaurants with outdoor seating. Two looked good--Mo's and Finn's. I decided that it was better to eat out for lunch, than dinner. I can walk to the restaurant in the light. Plus, I can sit outside.

After returning to the hotel, I played on my laptop a bit, and relaxed on the bed. I had my yogurt and fruit and some more coffee. I decided to go to lunch early, since I have the call at 2pm.

Today is shaping up to be a nice day. It's currently 47 degrees and sort of sunny. The walk was sunny along the street and the "Prom." I decided to eat at Mo's, so I could look out at the ocean. I got a seat outside and am enjoying a non-Keto meal of clam chowder, fish and chips, and an IPA! Go big or go home!

This place is getting busy already. I'm going to finish my beer and find a postcard before I head home. Have the call, then relax on the patio.

    Day 3

    March 2, 2021 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 43 °F

I am packing up the room slowly, while I watch GMA. Somehow it doesn't feel like travel, when I can get most of the local stations. 🙄 The rest of yesterday was uneventful. I couldn't find postcards downtown, but bought candy for Karen, and myself. I ate a Heath-type bar while walking.

Back at the room, just in time for the call, the weather was perfect. No wind and sun. I made a wine spritzer and sat on the patio. After the call, I was so warm that I put on shorts and a tank top. That lasted exactly 5 minutes. The wind picked up and it became colder. By the end I was bundled up with the sweatshirt and blanket!

I took a little nap and rested for an hour. The chocolate, wine, French fries, and beer had zapped my energy. Upon rising, I went to the grocery store up the street. It's small, with a strange selection. No roast beef for my salad, so I bought an expensive can of salmon, patè, and crackers. I forgot the postcards 😯

I decided to eat some hummus and cucumbers, and salami instead. More wine, and a Jacuzzi bath and I was ready for bed! The room was really hot and I ended up cracking the door and turning on the fan. Early in the morning, I had to close the door, but it did help.

    Time to take a walk!
