  • Boujour

    September 17 in France ☁️ 70 °F

Landed in Paris early morning. Customs had an extremely long line. Took about an hour to finally get our bags.
Arrived to our hotel in Chessy, the Dreamcastle. Room wasn't ready so we left our bags in storage and went off the local shopping district and ended spending all day there. Nothing too crazy today. Just wanted to relax and get our bodies adjusted to the time zone difference. So far so good. Was able to get a good night's rest and now we're ready for Disney!Read more

  • Adventure World

    September 18 in France ☁️ 70 °F

Spent all day at Disneyland Paris, Adventure World. Lots of similarities to the Disney parks in the US except there are no photographers. Shows are in both English and French. This is the smaller if the two parks so we were able to get on pretty much every ride we wanted to. Very laid back. Less hustle and bustle I feel like. I'm personally not a huge amusement park fan but the family is, so thankfully it was tolerable.
Had dinner at the Ratatouille restaurant. Very cool themed decorations and the ratatouille served with my cod dinner was actually pretty good.

  • Disneyland Paris

    September 19 in France ☁️ 70 °F

Spent today at the main Disney Paris park. It was a Saturday, so very busy. Much like the Orlando Disney. Lines weren't too terrible although we did purchase a few single ride fast passes which definitely saved some time. Some of the rides are the same rides as the States but they have their subtle differences. Some have different video effects, some have different ride schemes which is good so you don't feel like you're on the exact same ride as anywhere else.
Spent the entire day and night here. Rebecca wanted to stay for the grand finally which was entertaining. Lion king show was very cool.
One thing that was nice was that we were able to leave the park to Disney village (aka Disney springs) that has more restaurant options than inside the park. The park let's you back in using the same ticket as long as it's same-day entry.
2 days is plenty of time to see both parks. I feel like we got see and ride everything we we wanted.

  • Paris Day 1

    September 20 in France ☁️ 75 °F

Left Chessy and made are our way into the Paris. We then made our way to Norte Dame and had an outdoor tour. Very informative and helped provide history and pointed out notable characters that have their statues mounted on the building. Restoration looks great although it's not expected to be fully completed until 2028.

In the evening we got dressed up for a night on the town and attended dinner and show at the Moulin Rouge. The food was really good and the show was also good. Really colorful outfits and great performances. Worth the price of admission, just need to book your tickets months in advance.

  • Day 2

    September 21 in France ☁️ 73 °F

Today was another packed day that started out having us do a half marathon to make our tour at the Louvre Museum. All for nothing it appeared as Rebecca thought we needed passports to enter so we had to rush to home base to get them and sprint back to Louvre to make our appointment on time. They never asked for passports however. This proves you can't believe everything you read on the internet!
The Louve museum was great. We had a guided tour to help put some context around some other stuff that you were looking at however, our particular tour guide was too knowledgeable. Sometimes she over, exhausted her explanations and made the tour longer than it needed to be, but all in all it was good to have someone to show you around. Lots of Roman and Greek culture in this museum, but also a whole dedicated floor to the Egyptian heritage. I hadn’t been to a museum that had so many hieroglyphic artifacts.
Afterwards we went back to home base to dress up for pictures. We hired a photographer to take some family photos in front of the Eifel Tower.
After the photo shoot, we attended a dinner cruise on the Seine river. This is the main river that runs through the center of town. Very nice dinner with a glass roof so you can see all the sightseeing spots along the river. Very nice intimate dinner with live music. Food choices were good as well. Made it back to home base after midnight but not before some night time shots of the tower 🗼😝

  • Shopping

    September 22 in France ☁️ 72 °F

Start the day at Madame Madame cafe. Their Instagram loured Rebecca in for a Eiffel Tower pastry. Rest of the day was a shopping day. Nothing on the agenda really other than some luxury finds that Rebecca was on the hunt for. I'll say her and Audi succeeded and I'll leave it at that.
We visited the Pont-Neuf shopping district. The Louis Vuitton flagship HQ was here along with historical Samaritaine Paris mall.
We had coffee and dessert at the LV cafe. It was quite fancy. Audi got her first LV bag for her sweet sixteen.
We ended with dinner at Le Louchebem for some steak and fritas. Also tried snails for the first time. They were pretty good actually tasted like muscles. Tried bone marrow that the waiter recommended but that was not so much. And of course had french onion soup in France. 😝

  • Palace of Versailles

    September 23 in France ☀️ 73 °F

Today is was our last full day in France. We attended a bike tour excursion in Versailles. The tour revolved around, taking a bike ride around the palace grounds with a guided tour who explained the history of the different statues, grounds and building designs around the property of King Louis the XIV.
I didn't have any historical knowledge on the palace of Versailles so it was nice to get some education.
We also explored the private compound of Marie Antoinette, who was King Louis the XVI's wife who also stayed on the property. They filmed the Marie Antoinette movie on this property as well. So there was some old movie props. Her compound consisted of various cottages that she would provide to her overnight guests.
Our guide was a British so his English was very good and he had some humorous one liners, which made the tour stay interesting. We had lunch on the property by the grand Canal, which took King Louis the 14th's soldiers 11 years to trench out before they could put water in it (fun fact).
After the bike tour, our excursion purchase got us access to the Premier line to enter the palace, so we got to bypass the long line of individuals who bought their ticket that day. we only had about 45 minutes to explore the palace because we needed to get back into town however everything we saw looked pretty amazing. The palace is a 700,000 square foot compound and it has a luxurious garden which is quite spectacular. These Kings had quite the compound.

They also had an Angelina's on the property which is a pretty popular Paris pastry shop known for its hot chocolate. But of course when we ordered it, the machine was down. It was a pretty warm day so hot chocolate probably wasn't the best thing to drink anyway.

For the evening, we went back into Paris to get to a few shops before they closed and ended with dinner at a pizza spot that was pretty good.
