Vizcaya is a beautiful historic mansion in Miami, Florida that I loved exploring in June of 2017! I have family in the Miami area, so you will see many Florida posts in addition to my Indiana ones.

Vizcaya was built between 1914 and 1922 as a winter estate for Chicago-native industrialist James Deering. At one point, the estate included up to 180 acres of land! Deering passed away in 1925, so he wasn't even able to enjoy this beautiful property for very long. It was acquired by Miami-Dade County in 1952 and opened to the public beginning in 1953.

I remember being in absolute awe of this place and how big and grand everything was. The inside is pretty awesome too and there is original furniture in 34 of the rooms! I don't have any pictures of the inside as I believe there were/are regulations put into place on indoor photography at Vizcaya in order to preserve the interior. But look at how beautiful the outside is!
