Catawba Island to Detroit

Lake Erie marine forecasts were for seas under 2 feet, but the first 15 miles were bigger than that. We got slammed a lot and the wipers got a workout. No video, too dangerous. Our boat does best in these conditions by staying in the ‘transition zone’ between displacement and planing speeds, despite the terrible gas consumption in that range. You do what you gotta do to avoid dangerous slams and maximize safety. That’s the ‘under 15 MPH’ red line on the NEBOLINK route. We had two days in Detroit and really enjoyed the visit.
