22.12 Day 97 . . . First Signatures

Up late yet again - well it’s nearly Christmas and those are the rules.
We had received further emails over night from the Notaire giving us the green light to sign the estate agents offer documents - which was a lovely start to the day.
The rain is on and off pouring down so to go out was going to need a sudden dash. We needed to do our Christmas
‘Big Shop’ so at an opportune moment we made a dash for the car and then drove in torrential rain to our favourite supermarket in Melle. Despite having a list (apparently) we seemed to do each aisle about three times. Anyhow we seemed to finally get everything we had come for, plus plenty of extras. We then had a very wet walk to Roxvanne with the bags and loaded up.
We then decided to go and have another look at the house at Chenay - despite the rain, just to confirm one last time (like we needed to) that we wanted to sign the documents.
We took the back roads over to Chenay and it poured for the entire drive. On arrival the house looked very sad for itself, it being empty with no lights on, the outside render looking dark due to being wet and the garden with that very unloved winter look. So we decided not to take any photos, besides we didn’t want to get out of Roxvanne.
After about 15 minutes chatting, we drove back to ours, realising that if we finally get the house at Chenay it will reduce the amount of times we have to drive the very boring D948 when returning from Bordeaux - another positive.
Back at ours, after yet another mercy run with the shopping we settled in for the afternoon and evening.
We’ve decided we need some Cranberry Sauce on Christmas Day but as we can’t find it here, we’d decided we should make some. So after a quick 20 minutes I’d managed to create something that looked and tasted somewhat like it - so that was popped in the fridge to thicken up before Christmas Day.
We both then sat and read our eagerly anticipated documents from the Estate Agents. Both being happy with what we had read and being assured by the Notaire that all was fine we pressed the appropriate buttons and submitted. No more to do now until well into January, but the house is now no longer on the market for anyone else.
As I was now in full Gordon Ramsey mode I blagged Tre into helping me make some spiced crispy chicken with the air fryer - still can’t believe Tre bought me this gadget last Christmas . . . this year has flown and has been a roller coaster.
So the evening passed, both of us feeling more relaxed than we have for the past few days and both looking to a good nights sleep, without a headful of questions that we hadn’t been able to resolve until today.Читать далее
