Steering carefully through Anguilla

Anguilla is everything you’d imagine a Caribbean island to be—quiet, laid-back, and breathtakingly beautiful. The beaches here are nothing short of spectacular. The water is the clearest, most vibrant blue I’ve ever seen, and the sand is soft, white, and perfect for lounging. Spending the afternoon on the beach feels like stepping into a postcard, and the sunsets? Absolutely magical—like a painting that shifts and glows as the sun dips below the horizon.

Getting around the island has been an adventure in itself. Driving on the left side of the road was nerve-wracking at first, and I can’t count how many times I’ve accidentally turned on the windshield wipers instead of signaling. The layout of the steering wheel takes some getting used to! But so far, I’ve managed to stay on the right—well, left—side of the road, and I’ve been rewarded with stunning views as I navigate the island.

Every now and then, driving along the coast, you catch glimpses of other islands in the distance, their silhouettes faintly etched against the horizon. Anguilla may be small and quiet, but its beauty speaks volumes. There’s not much going on here, but with beaches like these, there doesn’t need to be.

Retour à Saint Martin

Nous quittons Anguilla à regret mais en même temps 3 jours c'est bien assez.
A Orient bay , nous trouvons une belle plage . C'est une plage naturiste, qu'à cela ne tienne , nous nous mettons à la mode du coin et profitons de l'eau limpide.
Au bout de la plage , il y a encore les stigmates de l'ouragan Irma de 2017 comme un peu partout sur l'île.
Nous logeons à Oyster Pond qui pour nous est un des endroits les plus jolis de l'île.
Nous retournons sur notre plage préférée : the Friar's bay beach et le restaurant du même nom pour passer notre dernière journée.

J'ai passé 3 jours à photographier les plages . A chaque fois qu'on en découvre une , la même réaction : WAOUH. Pourtant, au fil des voyages, nous devenons difficiles en matière de plages😉
Tout est simple ici , pas de superficiel. En revanche des hôtels 5 étoiles et de bons restos. Les gens nous racontent qu'on peut se retrouver à côté de Janet Jackson, Paul Simon, Robbie Williams et bien d'autres en toute simplicité. Aux antipodes de Saint Barth ,donc.
Soyons honnêtes, pas grand chose à faire sur cette île dont on fait le tour en 45 minutes, mais nous avons aimé chiller sur les plages et prendre des pots tranquillement🏝️もっと詳しく

Non loin de St Martin au nord des Petites Antilles, Anguilla est un véritable petit joyau des Caraïbes !
C'est l'île des Caraïbes comme on l'imagine. Méconnue , on y trouve de 33 magnifiques plages de sable blanc et d'eau turquoise bordées de cocotiers dont certaines sont souvent considérées par les magazines de voyage comme les plus belles au monde
L'île est peu peuplée, il n'y a que 3 feux rouges ... C'est vous dire.
L'activité principale c'est le tourisme pour riches américains. Il n'y a pas grand chose à faire si ce n'est de contempler.もっと詳しく

Meades Bay Beach

Meads Bay beach has several expensive hotels, luxury apartments and restaurants of high cuisine, both Caribbean and international. Luxury yachts often moor here in winter. Public access to Mids Bay Beach is situated in its eastern part, right near the spa center of one of beach hotels. Meads Bay beach is famous for boat racing held on Easter Monday and other holidays.

Meads Bay Beach is loved both by locals and by tourists. Although, it is seldom crowded, so vacation on this beach won't be obscured by noise and cramped space.もっと詳しく

旅行者 yes I did. I really like snorkeling. As I mentioned yesterday, I need to invest in a small GoPro type camera which will allow me to take pictures in water or underwater so then I can share those as well

(Considering the one we had in the room before leaving being Numero Uno)

Just past Anguilleta, we are served a light array of sandwiches - ham & cheese, turkey, tuna, and a veggie one.

Just the right sizes to get you filled, but not too much before going snorkeling.

The guy in a blue shirt and the lady next to him are from Media. He was a Police Officer in Philly for 13 years and just retired (sadly, "had enough"... and I cannot blame him)もっと詳しく

Ab Falcon Nest kann man am Bootssteg mit einem kleinen Wassertaxi auf dieses Insel - Restaurant fahren. Super Essen, ganz liebe Inhaber, gemütliche Ecken zum sitzen, kleiner Strand. Echt hübsch, hier kann man den ganzen Tag bleiben.もっと詳しく

OK, St.Martin ist auch ganz hübsch, wir haben das beste daraus gemacht, obwohl wir fast direkt auf der Startbahn gewohnt hatten. Ein Stück weiter gab es einen schönen Strand und um in den Ort zu kommen, in dem wir den Test machten, haben wir eine ganze Menge von der Insel sehen können.
Nun aber Anguilla: Millis Inn liegt direkt am Shoal Bay, wunderschön. Hier haben wir die ersten Tage mal gar nicht`s gemacht, nur Strand, Coctails und gutes Essen.もっと詳しく

Millis Inn-endlich

Um fünf Uhr früh in Frankreich am Flughafen: wir stehen 2Stunden in der Schlange um uns nasal testen zu lassen für die Einreise nach Anguilla (der orale Test, den wir gemacht haben, wäre nicht zugelassen). Keine Chance, es gab zu viele Menschen und um unseren Flieger nicht zu verpassen, sind wir ohne den Test los.
Angekommen in St.Maarten, durften wir ohne diesen blöden Test nicht weiter. Also: Airbnb gebucht, Testzentrum gesucht, das hat aber erst am Montag geöffnet. Test durch, Ergebnis am Dienstag da, von Anguilla keine Antwort.... Erst nach Telefonaten usw. durften wir dann Mittwoch endlich weiter. Dort angekommen: erneut ein Test und 1 Tag Quarantäne im Apartment: Millis Inn-endlich!
Es gab einen Obstkorb, wie aufmerksam. Aber leider keinen Kaffee-der nächste Morgen in Quarantäne war echt hart. Dann der erlösende Anruf und der Urlaub kann beginnen.もっと詳しく
