    On the way back to Cusco from Aguas Calientes, I stopped for a day in Ollantaytambo, the oldest continuously-inhabited settlement in the Americas.

    Not only are there Inca ruins just steps from the village streets, but part of the town is literally built atop Incan foundations. The old waterways from Inca times still carry water through the small village, and it was fascinating to walk through the streets and see signs of modern life merged with ancient.Read more
