    Day 1: Ushuaia

    After 18 hours in a plane and 14 hours on an airport we finaly arive on Tiera del Fuego. It was the roughest landing we've ever experienced. Flying trough the clouds catching glimpses of the mountains right next to us. On the plane we met an Argentinan girl called Eve. She offered that her dad could drive us to our hostel. She really helped us out on that part. It was raining and there were no taxi's big enough for the bikes. So hero of the day was Eve.Read more

  • Day 4: windy day

    Today we did 109 km. Wind came out every direction. Starting in the back during lunch it was from the right and ending in the face. But when our leggs were hurting we could stay in an old abondend building on the Atlantic coast with yet another french couple.Read more

  • Day 8: Dusty gravel roads

    After a really good breakfast it was time to say goodbye to Maria Jose. Into the headwinds again. We turned into a quiet gravel road to get away from the trucks. But it turned out to be a dusty road. Tomorow another 60 km on the dusty road and hopefully after that a good warm shower.Read more

  • Day 17: Gravelgrinding Ruta 40

    After the great day yesterday we needed to cover 60 km of bad gravel road. We met a french guy wo helped us do the last 20 km. We decided to camp near a service station at the crossing with the new asphalt road. A german guy who joined us told that the winds tomorow are gonna be really bad. He is saying we shouldn't cycle. But of course we will try.Read more

  • Day 18: 100 kph winds

    Yesterday we were warned by a German guy that today would be 100 kph winds and that we shouldn't go. But we and Johan, a french guy we met the day before, gave it a try. The wind was the worst that we have had so far. Every 500 m we were blown into the gravel next to the road. But somehow we managed to make 50 km and found a place to stay. Since we heard the wind is gona be even worse tomorow we decided to go to El Calafate before pushing on to El Chalten. We start riding at 6 tomorow so hopefully the wind is still sleeping.Read more

  • Day 21: Hiding out with Butch Cassidy.

    After seeing the glaciers in El Calafate we set out for El Chalten. Acompanied by Johan the french guy we made good progress. We stoped at the hotel where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid hid after robbing the bank. But since we had to pay we decided to wild camp on the other side of the river.Read more

  • Day 25: we made it!

    The crossing into chile was hard. 3 hours of hike a bike and pushing the bikes trough streams and up the mountain. The downhill was a steep loose gravel road wich made it hard to go downhill. 2 hours early for the ferry but just in time to buy wine in Villa o Higgins.Read more

  • Day 29: Climbing with nice views

    Only 30 km done and it was time for lunch. At the ferry our travel companion said goodbye to us afyer 100 km of running next to us. Afyer the ferry it was time for some climbing. The views were breathtaking and the gravel road good. Until we made a turn for our detour. 20 km of bad road. But in the end we found a place to camp with some of the people we met earlier on the road. This was maybe the best day so far!Read more

  • Day 30: Washboards

    We started the day with some sightseeing and the search for bread in Tortel. It is a cool small town. Only 13 years ago it was connected to the rest of chile by road. It is situated at the base of a hill and is totally connected by wooden boardwalks. After 1.5 hour of searching we only gound 4 pieces of bread. But it was time to go and make some km's.
    The road was washboarded but rideable. And it was the first time in 2 weeks that we rode alone. Tomorrow we ride into Cochrane in the search for sunscreen and more chilean peso's

  • Day 32: Why do the shops open at 10?

    The day started with rain. But since we had to wait for the shop to open at 10 that didn't really matter because it was raining in the morning. So after sleeping in till 10 and having breakfast we left at 12 with blue skies. The whole day was up and down trough valleys with breathtaking scenery. At the end of the day we found a great place to camp with private beach.Read more
