  • Fun in the sun

    August 17, 2025 in Canada ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

A day of fun in the sun. After a thunderstorm last night it was a cooler morning but warmed up quickly. The guys headed out early for fishing and did a second fishing trip later in the morning. Everyone caught something, Jackson’s very first fish was small but mighty!
Everyone spent the day taking out our canoe and the cottages kayaks. There were also lots of inflatables that the guys tested out on dry land first. It took three air pumps to pump everything up but we got there!

  • First Tubing Adventures

    August 18, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Another successful early morning fishing trip followed by Dad taking Mom and I on an adventure through the different lakes. My mom has a need for speed when it comes to boats!
Then we attempted some tubing. A first for both Jackson and Rob. We could not shake Jackson no matter what we tried but in the end I missed him falling off because he accidentally faceplanted off the front himself when I wasn’t filming him. After Jackson’s faceplant, it was Rob’s turn. There’s no video for his because it didn’t last long before we had faceplant number two. After which we had an engine breakdown and we had to put the tubing on hold. All the guys spend most of the rest of the day on the boat’s engine, taking it apart, plus driving and calling different marinas trying to get the part they needed. They found a marina that could get the part they needed for tomorrow. So we should be back up and running after that.Read more

  • Rain

    August 19, 2025 in Canada ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

Rained all day. Today was mostly a nap day for everyone. I think the only person who didn’t have a nice long nap was Jackson. We pulled out Catan and spent the evening playing that. Even though we were all stuck inside it was kind of nice to have a quiet day to catch up on some sleep after all the early mornings for fishing and sun.Read more

  • Dinner in Rosseau

    August 20, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Tonight we had dinner out in Rosseau. Nothing fancy but it was good. We went to Hwy 141 Burgers and then the Rosseau General Store for ice cream. Finishing off the adventure at the beach. Almost all the adults crammed onto one picnic table to watch the one toddler playing on the playground. Jackson and I went to sit on the dock. Now for an evening of finishing our Catan game.Read more

  • Tubing Attempt Two

    August 21, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

With the boat engine “fixed” we made a second attempt at tubing. After his attempt was cut short last time, Rob went first. Dad was a little nicer to Rob so he also stayed afloat. Only almost sinking at the end when we were slowing down. I was next and also stayed afloat but he took it easier on me with the corners than he did with the guys. Last but not least was my Dad, whose ride was very short due to engine troubles once again. We think it’s just too much for the old engine. We stopped tubing after that to save the engine for the guys to go fishing.Read more

  • Last Day

    August 22, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

The guys went out in the morning for one last fishing trip where they caught two more fish. For lunch they fried the fish everyone caught. It was all a first for Jackson and Johnny and some of the kinds of fish were a first for Rob. Johnny did not enjoy it but everyone else who had some did.
After lunch was the last opportunity for any water toys. So Rob headed out in the kayak and Jackson the paddle board (first time on a paddle board). While Melissa and I relaxed on the floaties. Melissa however ditched me fairly quickly, which resulted in me being stranded attached to the anchor that was dropped to keep us from floating back to shore.
We then had to take the boat to go look for the guys because they had been so long. Unlike me, they were not stranded and were just slowly making their way back against the wind and currant when we found them.
We spent the rest of the night packing some things up for tomorrow and finishing our second and last game of Catan.
